Race 1 (3:40pm) YA YA BABY
Two wins and five places in fourteen career starts and in really good form of late, placing second at Navan (2m, yielding) in March, before stepping up and taking the spoils at Cork (2m, good to yielding) twenty-three days ago, when 2 lengths clear of Clever Currency. Tough task, but should go very close.
Race 2 (4:15pm) BLUE LORD
Won on debut at Punchestown (2m, soft) back in November, when half a length clear of Julies Stowaway. Has since finished second and third to keep the form going, before unfortunately falling in the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham last month, when set to finish second. Looks the only threat to Echoes In Rain here and barring any lingering affects of that previous fall, can go all the way here.
Race 3 (4:50pm) JAZZAWAY
Two wins and two places in six starts, including a win in the penultimate run, when 3.5 lengths clear of Strange Notions at Fairyhouse (2m 2f, soft) back in January of last year. Followed that up with a second at Galway (2m, good) in July, when half a length adrift of Mrs Milner and makes belated return here. Clearly runs fresh and should be able to cope with the 6lbs rise, with Conor McNamara claiming 3lbs back.
Race 4 (3:40pm) CHACUN POUR SOI
Six wins in seven runs, prior to the Cheltenham Festival, placing third in the Queen Mother Champion Chase when odds on favourite and struggling up the hill. Finished behind Nubla Negra that day, although Punchestown will be a lot more forgiving. An excellent jumper, who doesn’t always finish strongly, but should have enough in this contest to at very least feature, if not grab the spoils
Race 5 (4:10pm) NONBINDING
Kalinisi gelding, out of Mirazur, who is a half-brother to five winners, including 2020 Cheltenham Bumper winner, Ferny Hollow and the useful Chiltern Hills. Also related to Champion Hurdle winners Granville Again and Morley Street. Plenty of expectations on Denise Fosters’s runner.
Race 6 (4:45pm) ENVOI ALLEN
Won all eleven previous races, before falling in the Marsh Novice’s at the Cheltenham Festival last time out. Won in penultimate race at this venue (2m 4f, heavy) in the Grade 3 – Killiney Chase, when 3.5 lengths clear of Fils D’Oudairies in January. Today’s extended trip poses one or two concerns, but has Racheal Blackmore onboard to maximise his chances. Tough contest, with Monkfish involved, but capable of taking the win here.
