Race 1 (3:40pm) ENA BAIE

One win and three places in nine starts, with the victory coming at Southwell, nearly two years ago. Has ran just five times since, with the latest at Cork (2m, good to yielding), when fourth of eight and 9.75 lengths behind the very handy Solo Pretender, who made it four wins in the last six starts. That was a first start in three months and realistically this mare should be better equipped today, while Jordan Gainford’s 7lb claim also offers further encouragement today.

Race 2 (4:15pm) ENTOUCAS

Forever the bridesmaid and not the bride, with one win and ten places in fourteen career starts so far. Yet to win over fences, but produced a strong display in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham (1m 7f, good to soft) last month, when missing out by a shorthead to Sky Pirate. Mark Walsh is retained onboard and this Joseph O’Brien runner should involved in the closing stages.

Race 3 (4:50pm) ALPHA DES OBEAUX

11-yo has six wins and fourteen places in forty-four career starts, but is without a win since 2018. However, he has seen a bit of a revival in latest runs, placing fourth in the Cross Country at the Cheltenham Festival (3m 6f, good to soft), before finishing eleventh of fifteen finishers in last month’s Grand National at Aintree. Will have no issues with the trip and he has placed or better in five of the eight visits to Punchestown.

Race 4 (5:25pm) FLOORING PORTER

Won the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown (3m, soft) in December, before going on to make it a treble, by taking the victory in the Stayers Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival (2m 7f, good to soft), when 3.25 lengths clear of Sire Du Berlais and 5 lengths cleat of Paisley Park in an impressive display. Difficult to see him getting beaten on this form, with Beacon Edge and Ronald Pump the most likely to keep him honest.

Race 5 (6:00pm) FLOUEUR

A win and three places in seven trips so far in Ireland, although he had won twice in France too. The last victory came at Navan (2m 2f, soft to heavy) back in January 2020. Form had dipped a little over the Winter, but a third in the Martin Pipe Hurdle at Cheltenham (2m 4f, good to soft) has given him a timely boost, when 11.25 lengths adrift of Galopin Des Champs.

Race 6 (6:35pm) CAPTAIN GUINNESS

Two wins and a place in eight starts, with the last of the victories coming in a beginners chase at Punchestown (2m, heavy) in December, when 4.75 lengths clear of Midnight Run. Finished third in the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival (1m 7f, soft) last time out, 13 lengths behind Shiskin. Has finished second to favourite, Energumene at Naas back in January, but with ground favouring Henry De Bromhead’s charge this time around, it should be a closer contest this time around.
