After a disappointing opening start for his new home, he stepped up to place second at Fontwell (2m 3f, good), finishing 11 lengths behind runaway winner, Dreaming Blue (14/1). Returns after a month off and should have more to come in this contest.
Race 2 (2:30pm) VALLERES
Promising sort, with two wins and three places in nine starts so far, including a win at Fontwell, a year ago. Has since placed third in all three start, with the latest of those at Newbury (2m 6f, soft), when 8.75 lengths adrift of the winner in first time cheekpieces (retained). Drops 3lbs for this contest, which will only boost his chances.
Race 3 (3:05pm) BOOMBAWN
Twice placed in three starts so far, with a third at Newbury (2m, good to soft) back in November, when 9 lengths drift of odds on favourite, Jonbon. He returns after a wind-op here and with more to come in general, should make a very strong claim to take the spoils here, with Name In Lights one of the bigger threats here.
Race 4 (3:40pm) BROUGHTONS RHYTHM
Two wins and nine places so far, but recent form has dropped off, since a second over C&D in early December, when 11 lengths adrift of Galileo Silver. He finished fifth of eleven in his latest at Exeter (2m 3f, good to soft), but comes into this weaker contest off an eased mark, while Peter Summers claims a further 7lbs, which should enhance his chances.
Race 5 (4:15pm) TORBELLINO
Not won in eighteen races, but has acquitted himself well over the latest runs, placing three times in the last four starts, including the latest at Plumpton a fortnight ago., when 16 lengths behind strong odds on favourite, Mark Of Gold. Has been given a relatively decent mark by the handicapper and she could take advantage here.
Race 6 (4:50pm) THE CHANGING MAN
Steadily shown some improvement, over four runs so far, culminating in a fifth of eleven at Wincanton in January. That race has since produced several winners, which helps enhance that performance and another solid run is expected once again, now extending in trip and making handicap debut.
