Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Entries 2024: Competitive field expected at Cheltenham

First held in 2005, the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, or Fred Winter as it’s known to most, has been a platform for the four-year-olds to strut their stuff and the 2024 renewal at the Cheltenham Festival looks to be another hugely competitive renewal with 47 exciting youngsters entered for the race, which takes place on day one of the meeting on Tuesday 12th March this year.

As is always the case there are a whole host of horses that are entered for both the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle and the Triumph Hurdle and many are sure to wait to see what weight they have been allotted in the Fred Winter before deciding whether to go down this handicap route or have a crack at the Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle on day four of the meeting.

Joseph O’Brien’s Lark In The Mornin has been one of those sitting towards the head of the ante-post betting and that potentially progressive youngster is one of the 47-strong entry list, as is the Willie Mullins-trained Batman Girac, who was last seen finishing fourth in a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle and could be one of the leading challengers for the Closutton team in this fascinating contest.

A Listed winner at Doncaster last time out, Gordon Elliott’s filly Wodhooh could take on the boys in the Boodles and is another that sits prominently in a wide open betting market, while the likes of Ndaawi and Nurburgring are another brace of eye-catching entries for what is always a real puzzle for punters.
