Cross Country Chase Entries 2024: A classy field of runners set to line up at Cheltenham

Some top class horses feature among the 21 entries for the 2024 Cross Country Chase, which takes place at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday 13th March with reigning champion Delta Work one of the star attractions in the potential star-studded line-up.

Having defeated the legendary Tiger Roll in the 2022 running of the Cross Country Chase, Delta Work then retained his crown in the 2023 contest as he edged out stablemate Galvin in a thrilling finish and that pair are set to lock horns once again in this event and are two dominant figures in the ante-post betting for the unique marathon contest.

However, there could be another star on the Cross Country scene in the 2024 contest as the former Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Minella Indo has appeared to take to the discipline and he could well be a notable thorn in the side of the aforementioned Elliott pairing. Henry De Bromhead’s star was a creditable fourth at Cheltenham in a Cross Country event, but that was a handicap contest where he had to give lumps of weight away to his rivals, but next month’s Cross Country Chase won’t be a handicap, so Minella Indo should have a far easier task on his hands.

As is always the case there’s a really strong Irish contingent entered for the event and Coko Beach could be another from the Emerald Isle lining up and the likeable grey is another prominent figure in the betting, while former Irish Gold Cup winner Conflated is another that may not reach the heights for Grade 1 company these days, but is a class act and could feature.

Foxy Jacks has winning form at Cheltenham over the Cross Country course and could be another to take his chance, while Back On The Lash and Francky du Berlais are just another brace of eye-catching entries for the event.
