Grand Annual Handicap Chase Entries 2024: 38 Runners entered for Cheltenham contest

A stellar field is expected to line up in the Grand Annual Handicap Chase at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival as some of the leading two-mile handicap chasers from the UK & Ireland are set to do battle in one of the finest spectacles of the entire Cheltenham Festival.

It may lack the quality of the Grade 1 Queen Mother Champion Chase, which takes place on the same day, Wednesday 13th March, the Grand Annual Handicap Chase is still set to see some classy performers take their chance two of the leading fancies in the ante-post betting are the Irish-trained duo of My Mate Mozzie and Saint Roi and that pair feature in the entries for the race won 12 months ago by Maskada for Henry De Bromhead and Darragh O’Keeffe, who is also amongst the 38-strong list.

Sophie Leech’s Madara was one of the stars of Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival as the British-trained raider won a valuable handicap chase on Irish shores and Leech was lauded for sending her mount across to the Emerald Isle and that progressive star is entered for the Grand Annual.

Pulled up in last season’s Coral Cup at Cheltenham, Gordon Elliott’s Saint Felicien has impressed so far over fences and could be another notable shot fired by the Irish gun, while the likes of Pembroke, Unexpected Party and Frero Banbou are a triumvirate trained in the UK and could all take their chance in what should be a hugely competitive renewal.
