Ultima Handicap Chase Entries 2024 - Strong field of 76 runners entered for first Cheltenham handicap

It’s one of the real betting conundrums on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival and the 2024 Ultima Handicap Chase has attracted a real stellar list of 76 entries for the 3m 1f event which takes place on Tuesday 12th March. Won the last two years by the Lucinda Russell-trained Corach Rambler, who used victory in this race as a stepping stone to winning the Grand National, the 2024 Ultima Handicap Chase has attracted another attractive list of entries.

A real competitive betting heat that attracts some top notch staying handicappers from the UK & Ireland, the 2024 Ultima Handicap Chase Trends are certainly worth taking a look at when trying to find the winner of the race, which is the first handicap race run at the Cheltenham Festival.

Reigning champion Corach Rambler holds an entry and would be the star attraction in the line-up, but it’s expected that he may head to the Cheltenham Gold Cup on the final day of the meeting and it’s unlikely he will bid for a hat-trick of wins in the event, despite being handed an entry by Russell.

Third in the race last year, Monbeg Genius was extremely unlucky to not only bump into impressive winner Corach Rambler, but second in last year’s renewal was the subsequent Punchestown Gold Cup winner Fastorslow, so Jonjo O’Neill’s charge will be hoping he can improve on his displays on the track this season and land a significant blow in his second run in this race.

The Goffer was another that ran well in last year’s renewal, as he finished fourth, and he’s another eye-catching entry, while two contenders that have been prominent figures in the ante-post betting in recent times Chianti Classico and last season’s Kim Muir runner-up and Cheltenham January winner Stumptown also feature in the glittering list of entries for this race.

Richard Bandey’s Theatre Man was a very eye-catching runner-up behind potential Turners Novices’ Chase contender Ginny’s Destiny on Festival Trials Day at Cheltenham and that contender has been entered for the Ultima Handicap Chase, while other eye-catching entries include the likes of Meetingofthewaters and Shakem Up’arry.
