Sun Goddess and Senorita Bonita share top billing for Saturday’s Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Cheveley Park Stakes, as an eight-strong field of juvenile fillies goes to post over Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on the opening day of the track’s showpiece autumn meeting.
The Cheveley Park, run over six furlongs and worth Group 1 black type to its winner, forms part of a stacked Newmarket card that also features the Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes for colts and the bet365 Cambridgeshire Handicap — arguably the biggest single day left in the British Flat season.

Aidan O’Brien’s Sun Goddess arrives with the most eye-catching profile in the race: a five-time winner from six starts this season, her sole blemish a narrow second. O’Brien saddles a second runner in Snowing, considerably further back on form.
Senorita Bonita, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, has won three of her four starts, with a second her only other finish (form: 1211). She also carries the fastest recorded time-figure among the eight, some way clear of the rest of the field.
George Boughey’s Libertango (form: 1121) and Andrew Balding’s Moonrise (form: 1211) both arrive with unbeaten-bar-one profiles of their own, while Joseph Patrick O’Brien saddles two: Star Of State (form: 2121) and Alwaysanangel (form: 131). Robson De Aguiar’s Controlla (form: 2056) completes the field, yet to break her maiden.

Last Year’s Renewal
Aidan O’Brien has recent form in this race: his True Love, sent off the 2/1 favourite under Wayne Lordan, won last year’s edition, pressing the leader before getting up in the final furlong to deny Donnacha O’Brien’s Havana Anna by three-quarters of a length. Ed Walker’s Royal Fixation, ridden by William Buick, was a length back in third. All three of last year’s principals have since moved on from juvenile company, leaving Saturday’s race the customary changing of the guard for the next crop of Cheveley Park fillies.
