Coral-Eclipse Entries 2026: 42 entered for Sandown's flat feature

42 horses have been entered in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown. The Group 1 sees the Classic generation face off against older horses for the first time on the flat. This year’s renewal is scheduled for Saturday 4 July 2026.

Among the older brigade are a host of significant names. 2025 Eclipse runner-up Ombudsman is entered, fresh from a Group 1 win in Dubai to start 2025. His Champion Stakes conqueror and highest-rated flat horse Calandagan is also among the 42 potentials. Daryz, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe champion who, like Calandagan, is owned by the Aga Khan, also received an entry by trainer Francis-Henri Graffard.

Damysus, Minnie Hauk and Opera Ballo are other big names entered among those aged four and upwards. There are also 18 three-year-olds entered to tackle their elders.

2000 Guineas runner-up Gstaad stands out among those. The Breeders’ Cup hero chased home Bow Echo at Newmarket, though George Boughey’s charge has not been entered to step up in trip here.

Current Derby favourite Benvenuto Cellini is another three-year-old entered by Aidan O’Brien. Indeed, the majority of the Classic generation towards the top of the betting hail from Ballydoyle. However, one who does not is Dolmalan, another Aga Khan-owned runner for France, trained by Mikel Delzangles.
