4.15 Ayr – Indian Sounds (1pt win – 13/2 generally)
INDIAN SOUNDS hasn’t won since 2020, but he might be worth chancing today dropped into a Class 6 for the first time on the back of an encouraging running on fourth at Pontefract behind an improver last month. That was a signal that a return to form might be imminent, and it was his first run on good ground since running at Beverley last August when he was rated 77 (13 lbs higher). David Nolan takes over in the saddle from an inexperienced rider, and he should get a good pace set up today with Stay Smart, Freedom Flyer and One Last Hug, all possibilities to make the running and set this up for a strong finisher.
7.15 Windsor – Squealer (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 generally)
The top of this market looks worth taking on with Eminency shaping as though a return to 7f will likely see the best of him soon, and a wide draw in stall ten may not be ideal. SQUEALER has genuine excuses for two starts this season and was a highly progressive and speedy two-year-old, so at the prices, it might be worth chancing that he has trained on. With a good draw in stall two, he may be able to get the rail and his prominent style of racing, seen to good effect last season, will be a good help at this venue. On multiple occasions last term, he shaped that a move up to six furlongs would see him to best effect, particularly when he relished the extra half furlong to score at York. His final start last term in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes saw him finish with running left, and there’s a good chance he will put himself in a poll position to strike. He was hampered at the start at York, and he definitely wants to avoid the soft ground at Chester on seasonal return. There could be more to come from him off of a workable mark.
7.45 Windsor – Youthful King (2pt win – 5/1 Bet365, 9/2 Will Hill/BetVictor, 4/1 generally)
YOUTHFUL KING was gelded during the winter and shaped really well on seasonal return at Newbury 17 days ago when doing far too much too soon on the front end along with Time Interval. Still, he battled on well to finish 9th, doing the best of those on the pace and having come to the unfavoured part of the track down the home straight. He drops back into a Class 4 today and scored here last term, but more importantly, he is the sole pace angle in the race and should be able to dictate this contest, unlike at Newbury. He has everything set up for a career-best run today, and it would be disappointing should he not go close.
