HORTZADAR faces a progressive rival in Painters Palette, but he had given the firm indication that a return to form is imminent, having been narrowly denied here 20 days ago and that race was a good one for the grade. On balance, this is much easier outside of the Rebecca Menzies hotpot, who fluffed his lines at Ripon having boiled over in the prelims, but he didn’t look the most willing of partners to Alister Rawlinson. The selection looks to have found a good opportunity to score and ran his best race of the season fourth time out in the last three years with RPRs of 99, 97 and 97, and he sits on a career-low rating of 80 now, so he may be ready to cash in. He makes plenty of appeal at this Class 4 level.
