2000 Guineas Odds - Odds-On City Of Troy a Potential Ballydoyle Banker

14 runners were confirmed at the five-day stage for the first Classic of the flat season, the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. However, regardless of which opponents are declared against him, there is likely to be little change in the outlook of the market, with City Of Troy a clear and strong favourite to deliver on the promise he showed as a juvenile.

The son of Justify was extremely impressive in his three starts at two, winning the Dewhurst in clear-cut fashion and is available at best odds of 4/6 to confirm himself the leading light of his Classic generation. Victory could give rise to some serious excitement about his later prospects, which could even include an attempt at the Triple Crown.

Next in is Richard Hannon’s own Group 1 winner Rosallion. He made just one slip up during his two-year-old campaign, but has otherwise had his form boosted on a number of occasions and should be a top miler throughout the season; he is available at 4/1 in the latest 2000 Guineas odds.

The only other runner likely to threaten single figure odds unless a gamble ensues is Godolphin’s Notable Speech, who will be graduating from the all-weather in the race. He is unbeaten in three starts on that surface and is 10/1 in places, though as short as 8/1 elsewhere.
