Derby Odds 2025: The Latest Betting For Epsom Classic As Delacroix Heads Market

A strong field are three-year-olds colts will head to Epsom Downs on Saturday 7th June, 2025 for the Betfred Derby and the betting is wide open for what should be a hugely competitive contest. We take a look at the latest 2025 Derby Odds and pick out some of the leading fancies for the race.

Aidan O’Brien has a sensational record in the Derby having claimed the coveted Group 1 Classic on ten occasions and the master of Ballydoyle is bidding for a record-extending 11th win in the race and he saddles two leading fancies in the shape of Delacroix and The Lion In Winter.

A fine winner of the Ballysax Stakes at the start of the season, Delacroix then went and stormed to a two-and-three-quarter length victory in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown and he rapidly propelled to the head of the betting for the Epsom contest. His stablemate The Lion In Winter was the standout two-year-old from the O’Brien yard last season, but he failed to fire in the Dante Stakes at York in May and he will need to improve significantly to play a starring role here. However, his reputation means he still sits towards the head of the betting and it will be fascinating to see which of the two stable jockey Ryan Moore rides.

Ralph Beckett’s Pride Of Arras rocketed into the Derby picture when bounding to victory in the aforementioned Dante Stakes, as he kicked well clear of John & Thady Gosden’s Damysus and that one’s stablemate Nightwalker back in fifth and The Lion In Winter in sixth. Still lightly raced having only had two career runs, Pride Of Arras looks very smart and has to be considered.

Charlie Appleby is set to let 2000 Guineas hero Ruling Court take his chance in the Derby and he showed his class when beating Field Of Gold in the Newmarket Classic. With that Gosden star subsequently hacking up in the Irish 2000 Guineas then Ruling Court has some very smart form in the book and is another top class colt taking his chance in the 1m 4f 6y showpiece.

There’s a notable chasm in the betting to the rest of the field and Damysus is available at double-figured odds, while there could be another O’Brien-trained runner in the shape of Chester Vase winner Lambourn taking his chance, wit Tornado Alert an interesting runner available at bigger odds.

A spanner was also thrown in the works five days out from the race with French raiders Midak and New Ground receiving supplementary entries into the race. Pour Moi was the last French runner to win the Epsom Derby when scoring in 2011.
