Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle Entries 2024 - Strong field of stayers entered for Cheltenham Grade 1

We are set for a hugely competitive renewal of the 2024 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, which is a Grade 1 race run on day four of the Cheltenham Festival on Friday 15th March and there are some exciting staying novice hurdlers in the list of 63 horses entered for the event.

A Grade 1 race run over 2m 7f 213y, the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle is open to horses aged five years or older and it can often be a race that throws up potential future Cheltenham Gold Cup stars and is always one of the most exciting Graded races over the four-day National Hunt spectacle.

Willie Mullins is the most successful trainer in the history of the race having saddled three winners and he has a strong list of horses entered with the Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle winner Readin Tommy Wrong one of the star attractions from the Closutton yard. High Class Hero threw his name into the Albert Bartlett mix when winning over hurdles at Thurles and he could be another shot fired by the Mullins gun, while Lecky Watson is another star name that jumps off the list of entries.

It’s always a race that will see some potential big-priced runners run huge races as these young, emerging stayers continue to blossom in the spring and in what is a real energy-sapping contest it can see those with stamina-laden pedigrees that come to the fore.

Other notable entries that initially catch the eye include Johnnywho and Gidleigh Park, who have both shown to be smart performers and could take their chance, while Paul Nicholls could also send Captain Teague to this event, but the Persian War and Challow Novices’ Hurdle winner also holds an entry in the Baring Bingham Novices’ Hurdle, which takes place two days earlier.
