GG tipster Andrew Mount reveals his list of eyecatchers from the past week’s racing. Check them out below alongside bet365‘s new customer offer of Bet £10 Get £50 In Free Bets.
ALPINE SIERRA (fourth, 1m2f handicap, Ayr, Monday, April 25)
ALPINE SIERRA, wearing cheekpieces for the first time, went off hard in the 1m2f Class 4 handicap and helped set the race up for the closers. The Keith Dalgleish-trained four-year-old pulled almost five lengths clear of the next prominent racer to finish and he could be out again later this week (he holds entries at Musselburgh on Thursday and Hamilton on Sunday).
BOUDICA WARRIOR (ninth, 1m2f handicap, Salisbury, Wednesday, April 20)
BOUDICA WARRIOR had the worst of the draw in stall 1 and stayed on the rail throughout, which looked the slowest part of the track. She was badly hampered a furlong out and not persevered with after. This was an encouraging turf debut and there are races to be won with her.

BRIARDALE (sixth, 1m2f handicap, Ayr, Monday, April 25)
Veteran BRIARDALE ran a solid race on his first start since August, sitting just behind front-runner Alpine Sierra (see above) at a strong gallop. The pair served the race up on a plate for the closers and Briardale will be more interesting next time. He’s lightly raced for his age and often comes to hand early, winning twice in April last year and also scoring in the spring of 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
JALEA MOON (won, 1m2f handicap, Yarmouth, Tuesday, April 19)
JALEA MOON was the only winner at last week’s Yarmouth meeting to come from off the pace and her 28-1 success might not be the fluke that her market price suggests. Making her handicap debut off a mark of 63 here, she can expect to go up about 5lb but could still have plenty up her sleeve.

LISDARRAGH (sixth, 1m2f handicap, Leicester, Saturday, April 23)
LISDARRAGH, who won twice last season when coming from midfield or further back in big fields, shaped as though needing his comeback effort when sixth of 13 at Leicester last Saturday. It was difficult to make up ground from too far off the pace, despite the big field, and he’ll be of interest this summer. His top five RPRs (Racing Post Ratings) have come from mid-July until September and he might need another run or two before reaching peak form.
HALF NUTZ (fourth, 6f handicap, Naas, Monday, April 22)
Blairmayne took his 6f Naas handicap record to 4155352101 (3-10) when making all under Wayne Lordan. However, the nine-year-old might have been flattered from stall 1 in a race lacking other pacesetters and the one for the tracker is fourth home HALF NUTZ, who challenged late and wide.

PAPABELLA (third, 5f novice stakes, Salisbury, Wednesday, April 20)
Stuart KIttow’s newcomer PAPABELLA, available at 80-1 with one firm in the early market for this 5f novice contest, was sent off at just 16-1 and ran a pleasing race. Always prominent towards the inside rail – probably not the place to be – she made steady away in the last half furlong when her chance had gone to finish three lengths behind the odds-on winner. She’ll know more next time.
THE CITY’S PHANTOM (won, 1m2f handicap, Yarmouth, Tuesday, April 19)
THE CITY’S PHANTOM scored unchallenged by six lengths to take his record at Yarmouth to 1151 (3-4), with the defeat excusable as he was keen under restraint (he usually makes the running) when ridden by a 5lb claimer. All three wins came on his seasonal debuts and he might just be one to avoid at short odds next time, especially if switched to a different venue.

THE PRINCES POET (fifth, 5f handicap, Bath, Sunday, April 24)
Morning favourite THE PRINCES POET drifted out to 6-1 for the 5f handicap and trailed home four lengths behind the winner in fifth place. He reserves his best efforts for Windsor, where his record reads 112 (2-3) and can be backed when he returns to that venue.
TRIBAL ART (won, 1m6f handicap, Wolverhampton, Tuesday, April 19)
TRIBAL ART clocked the fastest ever winning time for a 1m6f race on Wolverhampton’s Tapeta when prevailing by a short head from Pearl Beach in this Class 4 handicap. The pair pulled seven lengths clear of the third and the form looks rock solid. Small fields look ideal, this win taking his record in fields of seven or fewer runners to 1161 (3-4). The defeat – by 69 lengths over 1m4f at Newmarket last autumn – is easily excused as he stopped quickly after becoming unbalanced.
