Just nine hopefuls remain among the six-day entries for the 2024 Gold Cup at Ascot on Thursday, 20th June. They include the 2022 hero Kyprios, who seeks to wrestle back the title for Aidan O’Brien, though defending champion Courage Mon Ami is absent, as expected from John Gosden’s comments earlier in the season.
However, the Gosden yard and owners Wathnan Racing will still be represented by Gregory, who boasts a very similar profile to last year’s winner as a four-year-old with stacks of staying potential. James Doyle will likely be aboard, with the stable also lining up British Champions Day winner Trawlerman for Godolphin and recent Henry II Stakes winner Sweet William.

The rest of the field is domestically based with Coltrane the most experienced among them for Andrew Balding respectively. Both will seek to regain former glories, while the up-and-coming Caius Chorister is a mare with more improvement to come.
Prydwen and Enemy are the remaining outsiders who will be looking to do more than just make up the numbers.
