HIGHLAND MAC (2.00 Bath)
Few juvenile races will be as presentable as this one in terms of winning on debut. For HIGHLAND MAC it is a glorious chance.
Only four runners go to post, with two having had some racecourse experience. Crikey Juicey was last of 11 on debut, while Let’s Celebrate has been well-beaten on both of her two starts. Royal Agent is a half-sibling of a two-year-old winner at this trip, but the only other unraced runner goes for a stable with a very low percentage record at this age group.
Boughey’s yard is not in sparkling current form, but 25% of his runners at Bath have won, while 19 of 32 have finished in the top three. Meanwhile, his charge here is a daughter of Gleneagles and has two half-siblings who were winners to a useful standard.
She will probably want further than this minimum trip in time, but the stable will have some thinking to do with her if she was not to score here
MRS U S A (2.20 Beverley)
This two-year-old novice event is significantly harder and more competitive, but when Boughey sends a horse up north to Beverley, they tend to run very well.
He has only ever had 13 runners at the Yorkshire venue, but four of those have won at a 31% strike rate, while nine have finished in the top four. Altogether, his record at the two tracks hosting afternoon cards reads 12/45, giving him a 27% strike rate.
MRS U S A is aptly named as a filly by Starspangledbaner and found only Lady Hollywood too good on debut at Lingfield. That was a pretty solid effort and she now gets 7lb from Alice Haynes’ charge with that experience under her belt.
This will also be her debut on turf, for which she could improve, with Lady Hollywood having been beaten twice on it before winning on the all-weather. Mrs U S A may well turn the tables

CLEAR TO LAND (4.10 Beverley)
Another juvenile for the yard, and in Nick Bradley’s famous silks, CLEAR TO LAND enters handicaps for the first time.
He dam is a half-sister to the very speedy Que Amoro, so there is talent in her family. Nevertheless, there needs to be a step up, as she has failed to feature at bath, Brighton or Wolverhampton so far.
Moving into a nursery will certainly help and there is every chance she could be an improver for the yard with experience. This is a low grade affair, with few of her rivals showing that much more than her.
A mark of 58 is, if anything, slightly harsh on what she has shown, but this will certainly be more her level to begin with. A rise through the ratings cannot be ruled out from this point.
