Cambridgeshire Runners - Full Field of 35 Take Part as Gambled Favourite Leads the Line

The hugely gambled favourite This Songisforyou is part of a full field of 35 for the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket this Saturday, 28th September. The race now plays host to the biggest field in British and Irish racing since the Grand National was reduced to 34 runners, with the favourite’s trainer Emmet Mullins seeking to add this race to his 2022 Grand National and Cesarewitch crowns.

This Songisforyou won with a bit to spare in Ireland most recently, and gets in with just a 4lb penalty here. The handicapper has officially raised him 6lb, ensuring he is 2lb well-in.

Though defending champion Astro King will not seek to keep his crown, 2022 hero Majestic is among the 35 as he seeks to take the prize back after an admirable fourth a year ago. Ante-post market leader Roi De France is another taking his chance, with the Gosdens seeking a third win in the last seven renewals.

Astro King was winning off top weight a year ago, so connections of Liberty Lane, a course and distance winner, will be confident of repeating that feat. Karl Burke’s four-year-old will be conceding at least 3lb and more all round.

Waiting All Night is the last of the 35 in for Richard Spencer, with Poniros, one of the potential fancies among the three-year-olds for this race, outside the cut line and forced to wait as a reserve.
