Champion Hurdle Entries 2025 - Constitution Hill tops 10 entries at latest entry stage

Constitution Hill is the star attraction at the latest entry stage for the Champion Hurdle, which is the feature race on day one of the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday 11th March, 2025. Ten horses remain in the Grade 1 field for the opening day showpiece, with the likes of State Man, Lossiemouth and Brighterdaysahead all holding their ground in the field.

Nicky Henderson’s Constitution Hill only ran once last season, but after a whole year off the track, he reappeared with a roof-raising success in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day. He was made an odds-on favourite to win his second Champion Hurdle off the back of that encouraging display. He duly followed that up with a facile victory at long odds-on in the International Hurdle at Cheltenham on Trials Day.

Defending champion State Man recorded another victory in the Irish Champion Hurdle after he benefitted from the fall of stablemate Lossiemouth at Leopardstown during the Dublin Racing Festival, however, the former was beaten twice by Brighterdaysahead earlier in the season and has not been firing on all cylinders.

Brighterdaysahead has been the start of the Irish jumps season this campaign alongside Galopin Des Champs, but Gordon Elliott’s raider still holds an entry in the Mares’ Hurdle and it’s unknown where connections will head with their top performer.

Other names on the list are largely British-based, with Greatwood Hurdle winner Burdett Road perhaps the standout. He ran a big race when third in the Christmas Hurdle to Constitution Hill and is on the upgrade. Brentford Hope has been nominated by Harry Derham while Mares’ Novices’ heroine Golden Ace, who beat Brighterdaysahead to success at last year’s Festival, has also been entered by Jeremy Scott.
