Coral Cup Entries 2026 - Sponsorless Handicap Attracts 85 Entries

The race still known as the Coral Cup has attracted 85 entries for its 2026 renewal. Coral, which had sponsored the day two handicap since its inception, announced in February that their support of the race had been discontinued.

While we do not know whether the sponsorship will be taken up, we do know that the number of entries is down compared to last year’s renewal, for which 96 horses were entered. Nevertheless, it still attracted the most entries of any handicap.

Among the main mames to feature in the entries was Indeevar Bleu. Trainer Olly Murphy recently talked up his horse, who was swiftly backed down to joint favourite for this race in ante-post markets.

Two recent runners in Ireland are also popular in the betting: I Started A Joke and Storm Heart. The former was a runner-up at the Dublin Racing Festival, while the latter recently scored in Grade 3 company.

Iberico Lord could be another name to feature. He would represent Nicky Henderson and JP McManus, who teamed up to win this with Dame De Compagnie in 2020.

Dan Skelton has a couple of big hopes in A Pai De Nom and Nurse Susan, while The Passing Wife and The Yellow Clay boast interesting profiles among the Irish contingent.
