Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase Runners: Classy Field Set For Newbury Test

A stellar list of horses have been entered for the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase, which is run at Newbury racecourse on Saturday 29th November. One of the early season trials for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, this race has been a springboard to a host of top notch staying chasers and the Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore-trained Myretown is looking to use this as a catalyst for Graded success in the future.

Dominant when storming to victory in the Ultima Handicap Chase, the eight-year-old has been given a 15lbs rise by the handicapper, so will line up off 142, but he looks to have huge potential over fences and is a prominent figure in the ante-post betting. Another eight-year-old that starred at the Cheltenham Festival back in March was Haiti Couleurs, who landed the National Hunt Chase for Rebecca Curtis. An out-an-out stayer he’s another that will be looking to improve for more experience over fences and is another that sits at the head of a wide open betting market.

A winner of the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown Park at the end of last season, Resplendent Grey returned with a taking victory in the Colin Parker Memorial at Carlisle last week, and Olly Murphy’s improver could now head to Berkshire to contest this event at the end of the month.

Blizzard Of Oz is another that has tasted success already this season and he’s looking to hand Willie Mullins his second win in the race, while Kim Muir second Johnnywho is another that has to be respected in the silks of JP McManus.

Nicky Henderson’s pair of Hyland and Jingko Blue are another duo that could take their chance, while the trio of The Changing Man, Monty’s Star and Spanish Harlem add more depth to the field of possible runners.
