GG Betting

GG.COM is delighted to announce the launch of our new odds comparison service GG-Betting From Thu 14th May 2009, this service replaces the former GG-Odds and will be pivotal in our being able to offer users a more focused, straightforward and above all valuable product in future.

GG-Betting already incorporate most of the major Internet bookmakers and others will be included over coming days. We will also be adding regular ante-post betting markets, trend data and more ways to filter and display the live odds data.

The advantages of GG-Betting are also in use elsewhere around GG.COM. Racecards, free tips and our special feature sections now include live ‘best available’ odds, which click directly through to bookmaker bet slips. NB: This default position can be changed to a preferred bookmaker if required.

We’ve added a short Q&A section below which we hope will answer any questions you might have. Alternatively, click GG-Betting to visit the service now.

What is GG-Betting?

GG-Betting is odds comparison software available free to any user of GG.COM. It allows users access to live odds from a range of leading Internet bookmakers, for every horse race in the UK and Ireland, so that an assessment can instantly me made of where value can be obtained.

Why are we replacing GG-Odds?

GG-Odds was not our own software, it was a white label version from a third party company and as such, we found our use of it was restricted. GG-Betting will allow us to make more of alerting our users to market value in future. You may already have noticed that we have changed our arbitrary choice of bookmaker on racecards and tips pages with ‘best price available’, direct from GG-Betting. This can of course be changed back to a preference bookmaker at the users choice.

Is it only horse racing?

Yes, to start with. Our detailed research into GG-Odds showed that over 90% of traffic to the site was to horse racing markets. A small amount went to football markets and only a very small % of traffic went to other sports. We do have odds data for other sports and will introduce this one market at a time, if we feel the demand is there. Football markets may be introduced shortly.

Is GG-Betting just an odds grid?

No, our new betting section will also include special areas for as many UK and Irish festivals and classic races as we are able to provide. We have already introduced ‘Grand National’ and ‘Guineas’ betting sections and others will follow. Our intention here is to highlight to our users, in advanced, the major ante-post markets and prices as well as focusing our tipping resources and bookmaker’s special promotions around these major events.

How do I access GG-Betting?

GG-Betting will be available off the main site navigation menu where GG-Odds has formerly been. One replaces the other after launch today. You will notice that GG-Betting has a more contemporary design than GG.COM’s main site and we intend to carry this design over to the rest of GG.COM over time. A new, and less complicated, navigation menu will make moving around GG in future clearer and easier.

Is GG-Betting the finished article?

No, as with other GG.COM software projects, we will continue to listen to our users and to make improvements where it will provide advantageous to the majority. For example, on the GG-Betting racecards, we soon hope to be introducing filtering runners by their draw number as well as alphabetically and by odds. We are also intending to develop charting of the historic odds where available by race so that users are able to examine trends.
