But those tardy efforts aside, Mark Johnston’s charge is steadily progressing into a smart miler, a point he proved with a career best effort in defeat in the Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood last time out.
Vale Of Kent recorded a Racing Post Rating of 109 there, backed up by the best Topspeed figure on show for this Class 2 handicap. The 4yo Kodiac gelding runs off 3lb higher here and is having his first visit to York, but if he takes to the track, Frankie should be able to get a good tune out of the horse.

This William Haggas trained filly comes into this competitive handicap on a four-timer, having won her last three outings in small fields. This is the stiffest examination of her talents to date, but I feel she is beginning to firmly knock at the door of being a pattern class performer.
There was a lot to like about the manner in which she moved through the race at Newmarket last time out and despite only having two rivals to beat there, she did it in some style, should improve again and will hopefully prove the horse to beat here.
