GG Top Tips - Why The Following Horses Are Our Best Bets On Wednesday

GG’s Top Tips are well-informed and regularly profitable for punters. We have outlined the reasons for tomorrow’s NAP, double and outsider below, alongside Kwiff, who are offering new customers £20 in free bets when you bet £10.

NAP – Ellexis (1.40 Lingfield)

Roger Teal’s record with his two-year-olds on all-weather surfaces is better than any other demographic of age and surface. His ELLEXIS looks very well-primed to get off the mark in this race at Lingfield with that statistic on side.

She was made her debut in what looked a strong fillies’ novice event at Ascot last month. The winner, Clochette, was odds-on having been a narrow runner-up to a Listed placed winner on debut while the third went on to be a narrow runner-up next time out.

This race does not look as strong and Ellexis was a close-up and eyecatching fourth that day. George Rooke seemed only to employ stern hands and heels to his mount, but she still finished only 2½ lengths behind.

The step across to the all-weather is not a negative and even though two of her rivals have already been runners-up in Liberty Mountain and Jackie Diamond, neither did so in strong races. Teal and Rooke can combine here to get the daughter of Expert Eye off the mark.

DOUBLE – Premier Option (1.00 Catterick)

The opening race of the day plays host to the first of our double selections. We are taking on the likely favourite with a big improver last time out.

Delirious Dream has gone particularly close on his last two starts, but PREMIER OPTION may be able to get the better of him over the minimum trip of 5f. Delirious Dream was last of six over this trip on debut and while he may have improved since, Tim Easterby’s charge may well be capable of serving it up to him.

Though only eighth of 13 on debut, that was in a decent maiden at Thirsk and this son of Profitable stepped forward to lose by a nose last time out at Ripon. Both were over 5f and the latter showed he had a very willing attitude.

Having gone off in front, he was passed with over a furlong to go, yet rallied to go down by the narrowest margin. The third horse that day has since run well enough at Listed level as a big outsider, so there is plenty of hope that more is to come from Premier Option and he should be capable of winning a maiden some time soon.

DOUBLE – Lord Sam’s Castle (1.50 Musselburgh)

It is worth forgiving LORD SAM’S CASTLE for a weaker second effort at Ayr last month, as Iain Jardine’s charge looked a winner in waiting on debut.

He was beaten by just a neck at Hamilton, finishing ahead of favourite Ludo’s Landing. The formline there is strong, with the Johnston horse pushing recent Group 2 runner-up Marshman close enough next time out.

Similarly, while only eighth at Ayr next time out, the winner of that contest won a useful conditions race at Ripon earlier in August. Moreover, any problems with his application late on in that race could easily have been solved by both a gelding operation since, and the use of a first-time visor here.

The step up to 7f is no issue on his pedigree. The likely dangers are Act Of Will, who has more to prove up two furlongs in trip and Mahalik, who improved greatly last time, albeit on soft ground.

OUTSIDER – George Morland (3.10 Lingfield)

It has been a long time since GEORGE MORLAND ran in Britain, as trainer Amy Murphy has campaigned him using her satellite operation in France more recently.

The four-year-old was initially trained by Henry Candy, for whom he won on debut at Kempton last March. Life was more difficult for him thereafter, but he was a runner-up on his last two starts for that yard, both of which were over 7f on the all-weather.

His spell in France for Murphy has been less profitable, but based on some of the Racing Post Ratings he achieved (in the 80s), he was keeping good company. His return to the UK sees him racing off a mark 7lb lower than the last time he was here.

Those seconds for Candy were only achieved back in January and he remains only four years old, so is surely not on a decline. He could make his mark look very lenient, especially with 5lb claimer Frederick Larson, already on 23 winners for this calendar year, aboard.
