Grand Annual Chase Entries 2026 - 47 horses entered for 2m handicap at Cheltenham Festival

One of the most exciting handicap races at the entire Cheltenham Festival, the Grand Annual Handicap Chase has attracted 47 entries for the 2m contest, which will be run at 4.40pm on Wednesday 11 March, 2026.

A race where only the fastest, most nimble and gutsiest horses come to the fore, the Grand Annual is a fabulous betting heat, and we take a look at those horses that could feature in the contest.

Runner-up in Grade 2 company earlier in the season, Dan Skelton’s Be Aware could opt to switch to handicap company and features prominently in the betting. Jacob’s Ladder has been impressing in Ireland for Gordon Elliott, and the recent Barberstown Handicap Chase winner could attempt to continue on an upward curve over fences.

Ben Pauling’s Vanderpoel won at Sandown Park last time out and is another progressive performer. Meanwhile, Chris Gordon’s David’s Well won for a fourth time last time out and could bid for a five-timer.

A winner of the race 12 months ago, Jazzy Matty could bid for a third Cheltenham Festival success on day two of the meeting. Former top class chasers Captain Guinness, Edwardstone and Boothill are three veterans that have been entered, and add significant depth to the list of runners.

Mambonumberfive failed to continue his winning streak in the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase, but could be another shot fired by the Pauling yard, whilst the likes of Ryan’s Rocket, No Questions Asked and Ballysax Hank add more depth to the field of entries.
