Willie Mullins has his string in excellent form, enjoying an incredible run of big-race winners over the Festive period. So, where do these horses go next? And where is the next Grade 1 winner coming from? We bid to answer these questions below, alongside offering an exclusive William Hill Bet £10 – Get £30 In Free Bets sign up promotion.
Willie Mullins enjoyed a fantastic run of big-race winners over Christmas. The spell began on Boxing Day with the Cheveley Park owned FERNY FOLLOW, who further enhanced a fine career record with victory in the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase.
Although he was sent off the 10/11f, Mullins had a far more surprising victory under an hour later when his TORNADO FLYER ran out a 9l winner of the King George VI Chase, the yard’s first victory in the Grade 1 since Florida Pearl’s 2001 success.
The Mullins bandwagon rolled onto Limerick on December 28th, where star mare CONCERTISTA maintained an unbeaten chase record with an impressive victory in the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase, a big victory for her pilot Sean O’Keeffe.
Just a few minutes after Concertista crossed the finish line, stablemate KLASSICAL DREAM bombed into an early lead in Leopardstown’s Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle, and despite the best efforts of last year’s Cheltenham Festival winner Flooring Porter, he was never reeled back.
A day later, SHARJAH maintained his impressive Christmas record with victory in the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle, joining superstar hurdlers Istabraq and Hurricane Fly on four victories in the event.
New Year, but same Mullins. 2022 brought not one, but two big race winners, with dual Gold Cup champion AL BOUM PHOTO continuing his Tramore love affair with his fourth consecutive victory in their Grade 3 Savills New Year’s Day Chase.
Just under an hour later, a Mullins runner was back in the Cheltenham winner’s enclosure courtesy of STORMY IRELAND, who became the first mare since Lady Rebecca (1998) to land the Relkeel Hurdle.

So, what comes next?
Well, next month’s Dublin Racing Festival will likely be the next time that we see most of the Mullins superstars in action, but prior to that, we could be treated to a spectacular battle between two of the biggest Jumps stars in training. Namely, Shishkin, and Mullins’s ENERGUMENE.
These spectacular 2m chasers look set to match up in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot later this month.
Mullins’ Energumene is the 4/5f with William Hill to land the race. This enigmatic front-runner is unbeaten over obstacles, bringing his chase record to an unblemished 5-5 when justifying odds of 1/3 in last month’s Hilly Way Chase.
Mullins racked up a hat-trick of Clarence House wins with Un De Sceaux from 2016-2018, and he will be hoping that Energumene can become the stable’s next flagship 2m chaser.
