Durham-based trainer Rebecca Menzies is enjoying a terrific season and landed an 18/1 winner in Fonzerelli on the televised action at Doncaster yesterday. She has a pair of runners at Sedgefield on Sunday and we’ve assessed their chances below, along with an exclusive BetUK offer that provides £30 IN FREE BETS when you bet £10.

DALYOTIN – (3:13pm Sedgefield, Search Last Horse Standing On App Stores Handicap Chase) 9/4
The first of Rebecca Menzies’s two Sunday Sedgefield runners is DALYOTIN, who is a relatively new recruit having joined from France just last year.
This 6yo built on a modest stable debut at Haydock when a 25/1 fourth at Catterick last time out. Both of those runs came over hurdles, but Dalyotin was a three-time chase winner in France and is from the family of Don Poli, so looks particularly interesting now switched to this discipline.
Having travelled powerfully throughout that recent Catterick race Dalyotin just found his stamina wanting over the extended 3m1f trip (had previously raced over no further than 2m4f), so dropping back to this distance and ground he appreciates looks a huge plus.
Main market rival Manwell has gained all his wins in either December or January, The King Of May must bounce back from a poor run at Warwick (beaten 41l), whilst The Paddy Pie is on a near two-year losing run and the rag Tonto’s Spirit hasn’t beaten a rival home the last twice. With opposition therefore seemingly thin on the ground, it would be disappointing if Dalyotin did not put up a bold showing.

TWOSHOTSOFTEQUILA – (3:48pm Sedgefield, Vickers.Bet Loves Last Horse Standing Handicap Hurdle) 7/4
It was particularly interesting that TWOSHOTSOFTEQUILA was pitched into a very competitive 4yo hurdle on just his second hurdles start back in October, finishing behind the likes of I Like To Move It and Tritonic.
Although outclassed that day this son of Snow Sky went on to land a 2m1f maiden hurdle here on Boxing Day and has bettered that effort in defeat the last twice, finishing second on both occasions.
Having bumped into subsequent Scottish Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Kihavah at Newcastle in January, Twoshotsoftequila was beaten just a half-length over course and distance 10 days ago and considering that the front two pulled clear of the remainder the subsequent 5lb rise received looks manageable.
This, on paper at least, doesn’t look the strongest of races and it would be disappointing should Twoshotsoftequila not prove a level above these.
