Four horses have caught our editor’s eye among the declarations on Monday, including a Cheltenham Festival runner-up. Read about the quartet below alongside a William Hill Bet £10 – Get £30 In Free Bets new customer offer.
[KILCRUIT] (1.20 Punchestown)
The return of the forgotten one comes at Punchestown on Monday. Despite two relative disappointments so far, don’t rule out KILCRUIT from reaching a high level over hurdles just yet.
His bumper form still entitles him to the greatest respect after he finished second in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham before getting Grade 1 revenge on Sir Gerhard at Punchestown.
There is no doubt his hurdles efforts have been far weaker than hoped for. Yet, the first came when the Mullins yard were far from in their best form and the second was against the new Ballymore favourite Journey With Me and he was beaten fewer than five lengths.
Back at two miles, he will be a very short price, but it will be exciting to see if he can finally show his true colours.

[DOCTOR CHURCHILL] (2.50 Punchestown)
Gordon Elliott has given his recent Limerick maiden winner an interesting entry here as he will have to concede 17lb all round to his six rivals.
DOCTOR CHURCHILL could yet be an interesting runner with a view to the Boodles Juvenile Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival. He beat another fancied runner for that race in Champion Green on Boxing Day after three lesser efforts prior to that.
It is fair to say he has improved with his racing, but the yard have not messed about with any Graded or higher targets. If he proves up to this mark conceding the weight, even allowing for Rob James’ 7lb claim, then expect him to figure in bigger races later this season.

[CLASSIC GETAWAY] (3.20 Punchestown)
Just because you’re the most expensive purchase in jumps history, does not mean you’re immune to having your style compromised.
A first time hood is applied to CLASSIC GETAWAY for his second start over hurdles, but if his debut over obstacles was anything to go by, he will be getting off the mark in this contest.
His second to useful stablemate Cash Back came in a much harder race than most horses have to face for a hurdling debut. He still travelled through the race very nicely and comfortably beat a pair of decent opponents.
He is now back against horses with only similar levels of experience. For the money spent by Cheveley Park, he should be winning this comfortably.

[MARRACUDJA] (3.30 Hereford)
One of the more intriguing additions to the hunter chase ranks, MARRACUDJA can boast some very handy from back in his handicap days.
He was also third to Defi Du Seuil in the 2020 Clarence House Chase, which was a clear career best. In his more recent days, he has needed more of a trip, winning on heavy going over 2m2f at Fontwell as recently as October.
However, his last two starts have seen him finish tailed off and an entry into this sphere with Tristan Durrell aboard could see him revitalised. This will be a competitive enough race for his hunting debut, but no rival had anything like the class he did at his best and the 11-year-old still possesses some ability.
