GG tipster Andrew Mount reveals his list of eyecatchers from the past week’s racing. Check them out below, along with an excellent offer from William Hill of Bet £10 – Get £30 In Free Bets

BROUGHTONS PEACE (sixth, 1m handicap, Lingfield, Wednesday, December 15)

Making the running on the ‘dead’ rail was always going to end in disaster for BROUGHTONS PEACE, though he didn’t drop away as quickly as expected and I was quite taken by his two-and-a-half length sixth of ten. This was only his second run after wind surgery and there should be more to come at a similarly low level.

CAPPANANTY CON (fourth, 6f handicap, Lingfield, Wednesday, December 15)

Rhys Clutterbuck turned a good draw into a bad one by switching CAPPANANTY CON (stall 10 of 10) to the inside rail in the closing stages and that might have cost the 18-1 shot third place. Best over this trip and track after a recent outing, he should be winning again soon.

CATCH THE SWALLOWS (third, 1m7.5f maiden hurdle, Leicester, Wednesday, December 15)

CATCH THE SWALLOWS never left the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail but was only beaten by a little over two lengths into third place. This was his first run for the Venetia Williams yard and the first since winning a bumper for David Pipe a massive 1072 days earlier. He can be supported next time.

GYPSY WHISPER (third, 7f handicap, Southwell, Friday, December 17)

GYPSY WHISPER did well to run third after being switched to the inside rail to challenge from her tricky low draw. This was a highly encouraging debut for Scott Dixon and she can be supported next time.

HEAT AND DUST (sixth, 1m handicap, Lingfield, Wednesday, December 15)

It was a case of the wider the better at Lingfield last Wednesday and the ‘dead’ rail made life incredibly difficult for those drawn low. The first three home in the opening 1m 0-60 handicap came from stalls 11, 10 and 9 of 11, with HEAT AND DUST (stall 6) catching the eye after taking the rail route. Sir Mark Prescott’s 11-1 shot did well to finish sixth, just over three lengths behind the winner, and will find a race on this evidence.

JETOILE (won, 2m4.5f handicap hurdle, Leicester, Wednesday, December 15)

JETOILE was a rare Leicester hurdles winner to take the inside route and he’s value for more than the five-and-a-half length winning margin. Ryan Potter’s six-year-old also won easily at Chepstow on his previous start and might have caused an 80-1 upset but for running green at Cheltenham on his debut where he finished a close-up third.

MY BONNIE LASSIE (eighth, 7f fillies’ novice stakes, Lingfield, Wednesday, December 15)

An aggressive ride on the inside rail ended any hope that MY BONNIE LASSIE had in this 7f fillies’ novice contest and she trailed home eighth of 13. She attracted some market interest on her first run for Steve Woodman and will be one to note in handicaps.

NOT SURE (third, 1m7.5f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle, Leicester, Wednesday, December 15)

Taking the inside route on the hurdles course at Leicester is rarely advisable and even though the bias has been well documented this season last Wednesday’s four-runner opener featured four jockeys who had never ridden here over timber. NOT SURE, the 11-10 favourite, steered an inside course in the first-time cheekpieces and trailed home almost 13 lengths back in third. He wasn’t helped by failing to settle in the early stages and is worth another chance.

RARE CLOUDS (fifth, 2m4.5f handicap hurdle, Leicester, Wednesday, December 15)

RARE CLOUDS never left the inside rail in last Wednesday’s finale and Simo Earle’s seven-year-old can be forgiven his 22-length fifth. Well backed into 11-2, he’s now zero from 13 but can reward each-way support next time.

WHO CARES WINS (second, 1m2f handicap, Lingfield, Wednesday, December 15)

Ducking up the inside to challenge was not the right move on WHO CARES WINS and it may have cost Alan King’s 11-2 shot victory in this Class 6 contest. He was half a length down at the line and he’s worth another chance to break his duck.
