GG tipster Andrew Mount reveals his list of eyecatchers from the past week’s racing. Check them out below, along with an excellent offer from William Hill of Bet £10 – Get £30 In Free Bets

COOLE ARCADE (fourth, 2m handicap hurdle, Limerick, Tuesday, November 16)

COOLE ARCADE was backed from 4-1 into 6-4 favouritism to make a winning debut for Henry De Bromhead but made the running in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail under an aggressive ride and had nothing left at the finish, coming home just over ten lengths back in fourth place. The three that beat him were described as ‘towards rear of midfield’, ‘midfield’ and ‘midfield’ and this effort is deserving of a major upgrade.

EMPIRE STEEL (second, 3m1.5f handicap chase, Haydock, Saturday, November 20)

EMPIRE STEEL, available at 6-1 when William Hill opened their betting on Thursday, was backed into 11-4 second favouritism for this Class 2 staying contest in his bid to make it three seasonal debut wins out of three.

Sandy Thomson’s seven-year-old travelled well, trading at 1.81 in running, but mistakes at the third last and second last fences didn’t aid his cause and he was one and a half lengths behind 7-4 favourite Strictlyadancer at the line. His three wins have come on soft ground and he’ll be winning again when we finally get some rain.

LEVEROCK LASS (second, 2m7.5f mares’ handicap chase, Chepstow, Friday, November 19)

LEVEROCK LASS usually needs a run or two before reaching her peak, so it was good to see her go down by only two and a half lengths in second place on her reappearance.

Admittedly, this track favours her frontrunning style but, having lost by 17 lengths on her comeback last term and by 39 lengths the season before, it was still a solid performance. Both her wins have come in December/January and she should find another race this winter.

MICK THE JIVER (pulled up, 2m5f handicap hurdle, Limerick, Tuesday, November 16)

By the time of the 2m5f Bruff Handicap Hurdle most of the jockeys had finally realised that the inside rail was no good. However, 22-1 poke MICK THE JIVER raced alone in the ‘swamp’ and it was no surprise to see the veteran pulled up on his first start for a year.

He’ll probably need at least another run but will be of interest when returned to fences, especially at left-handed Naas and Navan.

RAILWAY MUICE (third, 2m7.5f novices’ handicap hurdle, Fakenham, Tuesday, November 16)

RAILWAY MUICE’s winning run for Sarah Humphrey came to an end over fences at Wincanton last month but on the evidence of last week’s Fakenham third there could still be more to come.

The 8-1 outsider of four never left the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail and wasn’t helped by getting into a pace duel with Say Nothing from some way out. His 13-length reverse can be given a major uplift.

RIO SILVA (fourth, 2m national hunt flat race, Fakenham, Tuesday, November 16)

Gallopade stayed wide when winning Fakenham’s bumper at 10-1 but it was the performances of those who raced on the inside rail that were more noteworthy. Fourth-placed RIO SILVA, weak in the betting (5-1 from 3-1) was the chief ‘swamp dweller’ and Olly Murphy’s filly can be supported next time.

ROYAL PRETENDER (second, 2m4f handicap hurdle, Wincanton, Thursday, November 18)

Even on good ground it seems you don’t want to be on the inside rail on the hurdles course at Wincanton nowadays and ROYAL PRETENDER, who failed to settle, took that route in this three-runner contest. A bigger field and strong pace can see him bounce back to winning ways.

SAY NOTHING (fourth, 2m7.5f novices’ handicap hurdle, Fakenham, Tuesday, November 16)

SAY NOTHING got taken on for the lead by Railway Muice (see above) and spent much of the race on the slowest part of the track. She weakened into a 9-2 last of four but this run is safely ignored and, though not the easiest to win with, she’ll be happiest when racing against her own sex and is worth another chance.

SEA THE CLOUDS (second, 2m national hunt flat race, Fakenham, Tuesday, November 16)

SEA THE CLOUDS fared best of those who elected to raced in the deep stuff on the inside rail in the same bumper as Rio Silva. Jamie Snowden’s four-year-old did well to finish seven lengths behind the winner in second place and can go one better in the near future.

SORBET (won, 2m handicap hurdle, Fakenham, Tuesday, November 16)

SORBET took the inside route when making all in the 2m mares’ handicap hurdle and was value for more than the one and three-quarter length winning margin. Lucy Wadham’s six-year-old seems happiest in small fields on good ground and can follow up granted suitable conditions.
