GG tipster Andrew Mount reveals his list of eyecatchers from the past week’s racing, plus a handy sign-up offer at 888sport too!
ADDOSH (second, 1m2f handicap, Haydock, Friday, July 2)
ADDOSH came from further back than ideal when runner-up to Miramichi (see below) and will find another race on this evidence granted a stronger gallop.
CHALK STREAM (fourth, 1m3.5f handicap, Haydock, Thursday, July 1)
CHALK STREAM, runner-up to Tashkhan on his penultimate start, was a warm order for this five-runner handicap but, not for the first time, he failed to settle. The 5-4 favourite had nothing left at the business end and had to settle for a two-and-a-half length fourth.
The hood was left off here which clearly didn’t help matters but the size of the field could be more important. His sole win came in a field of 12 runners and he’ll be worth another chance in a big field next time.
FLIBBERTIGIBBET (won, 7f handicap, Yarmouth, Thursday, July 1)
FLIBBERTIGIBBET had done well to finish in mid-division off a steady pace on Lingfield’s all-weather on her handicap debut and found this test more to her liking. The 12-1 shot was ridden closer to the pace this time and quickened up well to score by a length and a half. There could be plenty more to come.

JAWWAAL (won, 5f handicap, Doncaster, Friday, July 2)
JAWWAAL followed up last month’s course and distance success and remains open to improvement at this 5f trip, despite being in the veteran stage. The six-year-old is lightly raced for his age and now has form figures over the minimum trip of 91177511 (4-8), improving to 1111 (4-4) in June or July. He’s entered in the 5f heritage handicap at Ascot on Saturday.
MIRAMICHI (won, 1m2f handicap, Haydock, Friday, July 2)
MIRAMICHI made it two course and distance wins in a fortnight when justifying 3-1 favouritism under Jane Elliott. Always prominent in a steadily-run race, he quickened well to lead over three out and kept on well to score by a length and a half. He’s in at York on Friday.
MOKAATIL (fifth, 5f handicap, Sandown, Saturday, July 3)
Stall 9 made life tough for Epsom “Dash” winner MOKAATIL, who caught the eye down the outer on his way to a respectable fifth. The ‘dead-heat’ winners were drawn 1 and 2 and the Ian Williams-trained six-year-old, rated as high as 102 in the past, still looks well handicapped off 88. He could run again later this week.
MONHAMMER (second, 7f novice stakes, Haydock, Friday, July 2)
MONHAMMER built on last month’s debut effort at Ripon when chasing home short-priced favourite Dinoo. The William Haggas-trained 17-2 shot was ridden patiently in a race run to suit those on the front end and this effort is worthy of an upgrade.

STORM DREAMER (fifth, 1m2f handicap, Haydock, Friday, July 2)
STORM DREAMER could never strike a blow off the steady early pace in the Miramichi/Addosh race, doing well to keep on into a five-length 12-1 fifth of 12. This takes his career score to 0-9 but it was his first run at the trip and he could be winning soon, perhaps at Hamilton on Saturday where he’s entered in the 8.00.
TASHKHAN (won, 1m6f handicap, Haydock, Saturday, July 3)
TASHKHAN bounced back from his fast-ground Royal Ascot defeat with an authoritative success on his preferred soft surface. His turf record now reads 12191 (3-5), improving to 111 (3-3) on soft or heavy going. The Melrose Handicap at York has been mooted as a possible target.
WINK OF AN EYE (won, 1m2f handicap, Sandown, Saturday, July 3)
WINK OF AN EYE had taken an age to get on top when scoring narrowly at Newmarket last time and there was a valid concern than Sandown might not suit his patient running style. However, the 5-2 favourite scored comfortably and in a faster time than the earlier Group 1 Coral-Eclipse of the same course and distance despite this only being a Class 4 handicap. Post-race Tom Marquand suggested that he’d improve again for a step up in trip.
