We have recently moved our GG Alerts service to our new site and we’d like to briefly explain here to new and existing users alike; why we have updated the service, what advantages and benefits the new service gives and how to access and use the new service successfully.
GG Alerts allows you to select horses, trainers and jockeys from our racing database and ‘alert’ yourself to these selections the day before they next run. No need to trawl through endless lists or miss betting opportunity because you were unaware. GG Alerts will send you the information you need (and the information you have collected yourself), in a timely fashion direct to your email in-box!
Why change?
As quickly as we can, we are bringing all of GG.COM’s services onto our new ‘responsive’ site. On new GG, your Alerts can be accessed wherever you are and whenever you choose in a manner that suits the device you’re using. New Alerts are now easy to set up, manage and use on mobile phone, tablets and PCs.
We’ve also added in new features;
- Adding new Alerts is easy. In ‘Manage Alerts’ simply start to type the name of a selection and any possible matches are automatically shown below. Click the ‘Add’ button and you’re done.
- Deleting is also easy. The ‘Watched’ button doubles as a Delete button; roll the mouse over (or touch on a mobile) and the facility appears. A single click and it’s gone.
- Filtering allows you to look at watched horse, trainer or jockey Alerts separately or all together.
- Notes are now far more flexible. You can edit them directly on the screen and any notes made in your Alerts service will appear (and are editable) on Profile pages as well.
- Presentation of Alerts on the site now follows our racecard form for familiarity and essential pre-race data is included with each as Watched information.
- Alerts dovetails with our new Profile pages where more extensive information on a selection’s race form and career history can be assessed.
To set up or use Alerts, you must be registered and logged-in to our new site. If you are an existing user, your details and your Alerts have already been transferred to the new site, so all you need to do is log in. A password option is still available if you choose, but we would urge you to log-in via our secure and simple mobile option.
Receiving Alerts
- Alerts are delivered by email to the address given when you registered. There is no longer an SMS delivery option.
- Emails are sent as soon as pre-race data is received by GG.COM, usually late afternoon the day before a race.
- There are two different formats by which to receive email Alerts;
- You may receive Alerts in an ‘HTML’ format that is similar to our race card style including all the essential pre-race data and accompanying note, OR
- You may also receive Alerts in a simple Text format which will be suitable for printing or transferring to some other medium .
- There are also two different presentation styles by which to receive email Alerts;
- You may preference Alerted ‘runners’; be they horses, trainers or jockeys, to appear in race time giving a mixed, but chronologically ordered list, OR
- You may preference Alerts to be ordered by Horse, then Trainer, Then Jockey with runners then chronologically ordered.
- These preferences are available regardless of what format is chosen!
Selecting Your Preferences
These Alert email preferences can be selected/changed in the My Account section. When logged in, click the head and shoulders icon in the masthead and select the My Account button. You’ll find both selection under the GG-Alerts settings.
We appreciate that if you have used GG Alerts for a while, then the new system will take getting used to, but we are also confident that it is a better system, designed specifically for how we are using the Internet these days and includes new features that make it more useful than ever before.
We’d like to hear your feedback on the new service, so either leave us a comment below or email us at [email protected].
