Trainer David Pipe has his string in fine form at the moment, operating at an incredible 38% in recent weeks (8-21). The yard landed an across the card treble on Thursday and will be hopeful of further success on Sunday afternoon with four live chances. NEON MOON – 1:30 Wincanton (Eastbury Hotel Handicap Hurdle)
Six-year-old NEON MOON will be looking to get the yard off to the perfect start in Wincanton’s second race on Sunday. A winner of two of his last three starts, David Pipe’s charge has certainly turned a corner since tongue-tie and blinkers have been fitted.
A comfortable winner of a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last season, Neon Moon made his handicap debut on seasonal return at Cheltenham’s November meeting. Unable to land a significant blow on that occasion, the six-year-old again struggled at Exeter back in February despite attracting notable market support before the off.
However, a change of headgear has seemingly sharpened Neon Moon up in his latest outings, striding clear by five and a half lengths at Plumpton on soft ground before displaying a willing attitude to see off market rival Whatsupwithyou at Fontwell last month from a 7lb higher mark.
Up 3lb for that latest victory, David Pipe’s charge holds solid claims of registering another victory this weekend and whilst the return to Class 3 company demands more of him, the six-year-old faces some out of form rivals on Sunday and is difficult to oppose.

DANCES ON THE SAND – 2:05 Wincanton (Eastbury Novices’ Hurdle)
Harlem Soul made a successful start for Colin Tizzard over course and distance last month. Formerly useful on the flat, the four-year-old left his two previous hurdle runs well behind when scoring with plenty in hand last time out and will be a short price to follow up this weekend.
However, it will be interesting to see which way DANCES ON THE SAND goes in the betting on his first racecourse outing for David Pipe. Bred to be useful, the six-year-olds Dam was a former bumper winner before striking over 2m5f when sent over hurdles.
Whilst there are plenty of stamina influences in the six-year-olds pedigree, the Kalanisi gelding could be sharp enough to make a real impact on his stable debut this weekend, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see David Pipe’s newcomer run well in a race that doesn’t look particularly strong.

MORGENSTERN – 2:23 Stratford (Claudio’s 50th Birthday Novices’ Handicap Chase)
Winner of four hurdle races when previously trained in France, five-year-old MORGENSTERN is yet to transfer that winning ability onto British soil but has posted some notable efforts in defeat since joining David Pipe, and perhaps he can finally put it all together now dropping down in class on Sunday afternoon.
The five-year-old has developed a patchy record since crossing the Channel, however, David Pipe’s charge has run his most encouraging races when tackling the larger obstacles in recent starts.
After pulling up in his final two outings over hurdles earlier this year, Morgenstern shaped with plenty of promise when returning to fences last month, staying on well in the closing stages at Stratford to finish runner-up after pulling 13l clear of the remainder.
No match for higher-rated rivals at Newton Abbot when third on penultimate start, David Pipe’s five-year-old then bumped into Richard Bandey’s well-treated Give Me A Moment at Fontwell when last seen but still shaped with promise in behind.
A return to Class 5 company should see Morgenstern return to winning ways after those encouraging efforts in defeat, and although he is found winning difficult since joining the yard, he appears to have obvious claims on Sunday and can deservedly get off the mark for David Pipe.

D’JANGO – 2:55 Stratford (Savage & Stride Wedding Celebration Handicap Hurdle)
Former French chaser D’JANGO promised to be a useful recruit for the yard after joining late last year. A regular performer in valuable handicaps when trained by Patrice Quinton, the nine-year-old is yet to scale those sorts of heights since arriving in Britain for new connections and is winless in five starts.
Having run poorly in his opening two outings over the larger obstacles, connections reverted back to hurdles with the nine-year-old. Keeping on well to finish fifth at Exeter back in February, David Pipe’s charge caught the eye at Wincanton earlier last month. Ridden by 7lb claimer Philip Armson, D’jango had the majority of the field in trouble before setting sail for home, however, the nine-year-old was eventually caught in the closing stages and would have benefitted if ridden with more restraint.
Unable to land a telling blow at Ffos Las on his recent start, David Pipe’s charge remains on a workable mark and whilst he faces a pair of in-form rivals Game Socks and Hillview on Sunday, the nine-year-old could bounce back to form and certainly isn’t one to dismiss with the step up in trip promising to suit.
