Odds correct at time of posting – 8.24am 22nd June

2.30pm – Albany Stakes (Group 3)
I was really impressed in the manner CARLA’S WAY put the race to bed on debut and the form of that race has been franked since with the runner-up Star Of Mystery bolting up by 11 lengths next time out. She was keen throughout her race and I expected her to tire, but she did the opposite and pulled further clear. Simon & Ed Crisford have booked James Doyle for the ride and he’s a jockey I’m a big fan of, so that further enhances my confidence on Carla’s Way. I think she could be very good.
SELECTION – Carla’s Way
3.05pm – Commonwealth Cup (Class 2)
I absolutely love LITTLE BIG BEAR here. Something was clearly amiss with him in the 2000 Guineas so I’m willing to forgive him that run, and he duly got back to winning ways in the Sandy Lane next time out. That form received a welcome boost when the third home Bradsell won the King’s Stand earlier in the week. Sakheer is the big danger but with I’d sooner side with the proven Group 1 quality of Little Big Bear.
SELECTION – Little Big Bear
3.40pm – Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes (Class 2)
I found this race extremely difficult but the one I’ve ended up coming down on is LIVE YOUR DREAM for Saeed bin Suroor. The last 10 winners were all drawn in double-figure stalls, so his draw in 18 looks ideal and this is the time of year he does well. His 3 runs in June/July have seen him win twice last year and finish runner-up on his seasonal reappearance this year (worth noting he was giving the winner a stone in weight too). He’s hit the bar with his two runs over this trip so far but I think this could be the time he gets his head in front. At the prices I’m happy to back him E/W and can’t see him finishing outside the top five (SkyBet offering six places).
SELECTION – Live Your Dream
4.20pm – Coronation Stakes (Group 1)
TAHIYRA ran out a comfortable winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas last time out, with Meditate chasing her home, and I can’t see any reason why that form should reverse here. She was unfortunately not to remain unbeaten when finishing runner-up in the English equivalent but had pulled clear of the others, and I’d have actually fancied Mawj to run her close in here had she been declared. With no Mawj in the line up, I can’t see her being beat and think she rates as one of the more confident picks of the week.
SELECTION – Tahiyra
5.00pm – Sandringham Stakes (Class 2)
An open race with plenty of question marks around a lot of the field, but the same can’t be said about JACKIE OH. Her fifth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas is by far the best form on offer and with Ryan Moore booked for the ride, I’m confident she’ll run a big race. Her other two races saw her win on debut (runner-up placed in a Group 3 since) and a close runner-up effort in Listed company at Navan. They were both on heavy ground but she proved she can handle better going with her Irish 1,000 Guineas effort. With multiple bookies paying six places (SkyBet offering an extremely tempting eight places), she looks an excellent E/W option.
SELECTION – Jackie Oh
5.35pm – King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2)
King Of Steel almost caused a major upset when going agonisingly close in the Derby at 66/1, but something was clearly amiss with ARREST that day and I’m quietly confident he will be able to reverse that form here. His sixth length demolition job in the Chester Vase was much more like it and if he can get back to that level I think he’ll win. Prior to his Derby disappointment, the Frankel colt had previously only lost twice, with one of those coming in a Group 1 in France on heavy going. The return to better ground will see him to better effect (although his Chester Vase win came on soft), and he looks overpriced to reverse form with King Of Steel.
SELECTION – Arrest
6.10pm – Palace Of Holyrood House Stakes (Class 2)
We end the day as we have the last couple of days, with one at big odds! KERDOS is drawn nicely in 16 (all three winners of this had double-figure stalls), and Clive Cox’s 3YO has some interesting form to his name. His record over this trip reads 1123 (2-4), and he’s weighted to reverse his recent Chester form with Jer Batt and Danger Alert. The soft ground wouldn’t have suited him that day, so the return to a sounder surface should see him in a much better light. With some bookies offering six places, he looks a cracking E/W bet in the lucky last!
SELECTION – Kerdos
