Supreme Novices' Hurdle Entries 2024 - The horses entered for Cheltenham Festival curtain-raiser?

Mystical Power, Jeriko Du Reponet and Ballyburn feature among the 62 entries for the 2024 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, which kicks off the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday 12th March.

The Grade 1 curtain-raiser is a race open to horses aged four years or older and is run over a distance of 2m 87y and is one of the most hotly-anticipated races of the entire four-day National Hunt extravaganza at Prestbury Park.

Record-breaking trainer Willie Mullins has a sensational record in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, having trained the winner on seven separate occasions and the master of Closutton has a strong list of entries with the likely spearhead being the well-fancied Mystical Power, who was last seen storming to Grade 2 success in the Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle.

Nicky Henderson has saddled the likes of Altior, Shishkin and Constitution Hill to victory in this race in recent times and the Seven Barrows handler has entered the highly thought of Jeriko Du Reponet, who has been mightily-impressive on the track so far having gained a big reputation over the summer. The JP McManus-owned raider has been imperious in two wins to date and he’s another sitting prominent in what is a fascinating betting market.

A facile 25-length winner at Leopardstown last month, Ballyburn bounced back from defeat to Gordon Elliott’s Firefox and that pair have been given entries for the Supreme and could serve up another fascinating duel in what is always a real sparkling way to kick off the Cheltenham Festival.
