There are five meetings spread across the UK on Tuesday, and in an attempt to cut down the action in store, our Racing Editor has identified three statistical eyecatchers running across the cards. Check these out below, along with a new customer sign-up at Matchbook, which offers Money Back as a Free Bet up to £30.
ANOTHER ODYSSEY – (6:50 Ffos Las) Jockey David Probert 7-17 (41%) when riding 3yos at Ffos Las
Jockey David Probert has a good strike rate when making the journey over to Ffos Las, and his book of rides on Tuesday’s card looks strong. When riding 3yos at the track, David Probert is operating at a 41% strike rate in the last five seasons (+7.85 to level stakes) and that makes ANOTHER ODYSSEY particularly interesting.
George Scott’s runner comes into this contest an eight-race maiden, but he put up his best showing to date when beaten just a neck into second at Yarmouth last month.
That coincided with the removal of headgear worn on Another Odyssey’s previous three starts, which is once again left off, and although up 2lb, Probert’s presence in the saddle looks notable and that latest run marks him down as the one to beat.

WISPER – (7:10 Brighton) Trainer Marcus Tregoning 2-4 (50%) with his older horses at Brighton
Trainer Marcus Tregoning has rarely made the journey to Brighton in recent seasons, but when he does so, he often makes it pay, with four of his ten runners at the track in the last five seasons winning (profit of +17.95 to level stakes). That strike rate is enhanced to an impressive 50% (2-4) with his runners aged 4yo or older, and that marks WISPER down as one to note on Tuesday evening.
This filly brought her form figures here at Brighton to 121 (the first two runs came as a 3yo for Jonathan Portman last autumn) when making a winning seasonal/stable debut at the track in May.
Wisper was only fifth at Bath next time, but she was backed as though better was expected and she can have her run upgraded as she was very slow leaving the stalls. Returning to her favourite track looks certain to suit Wisper, and she remains open to improvement for this yard, so there’s plenty in her favour here.
CAREWELL COVER – (7:40 Brighton) Trainer Richard Hughes 7-19 (37%) with his 3yos at Brighton
Richard Hughes enjoyed plenty of Brighton winners as a jockey, and so far he’s sent out 23 winners here as a trainer. One age group that Richard Hughes has done particularly well with at this track has been with 3yos, with 7 of his 19 (37%) winning in the last five seasons (+18.32 to level stakes).
That makes CAREWELL COVER a very interesting contender on Tuesday evening.
This Footstepsinthesand gelding hasn’t managed to get his head in front in six starts to date, but he went close at Lingfield on penultimate run and was then backed into 7/4F at that track next time out, ultimately only managing fifth.
Carewell Cover is now dropped into classified stakes company for the first time and has blinkers applied, so if that combination manages to bring about even small improvement he looks up to running a big race.
