The post-Cheltenham week begins with three meetings spread across Britain. Our Racing Editor has identified a trio of runners to note across Monday’s cards, check these out below, alongside an exclusive Paddy Power offer, that provides money back as cash up to £20 if your first horse racing bet loses.
SOUTHWELL – Festival-winning Team Back in Action
The Robert Abrey and Ian Thurtle silks were seen to success at last week’s Cheltenham Festival with their homebred Edwardstone, who took the Arkle Novices’ Chase on Day 1 of the Meeting for trainer Alan King and jockey Tom Cannon.
That trainer/jockey/owner combination is back in action here with NOTHINGTOCHANCE, a Kayf Tara mare who makes her racecourse debut in Southwell’s Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race which is scheduled to go off at 2.10pm.
Nothingtochance is out of point winner Nothingtoloose, herself a half-sister to bumper/hurdles/chase winner The Parishioner. Nothingtochance lines up for the in-form King team, who sent out a bumper winning newcomer at Kempton on Saturday. The yard has a 36% strike-rate with their bumper runners here at Southwell in recent seasons, and the market reaction to this mare on debut will be fascinating to see.

WINCANTON – Former Grade 1 Favourite a Fascinating Entrant
The Class 3 Racecourse Live Streams On RacingTV Extra Handicap Chase goes off at 2.55pm on Monday and is the feature event on Wincanton’s bumper eight-race card.
This contest has attracted a field of just four runners, yet in TORPILLO there is a horse who was once sent off the 13/8F for the Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices’ Chase.
The Isaac Souede and Simon Munir owned gelding could only finish a distant fourth at Sandown that day, and in three subsequent runs has found himself beaten 22l, 25l and 57l, but a recent Sandown second was a step firmly back in the right direction and a 1lb rise still leaves Torpillo very well-treated on the pick of his form.
It’s hard to believe that although Torpillo is winless since November 2019 he remains just 7yo, and therefore there is plenty of time remaining for him to regain that early-career promise.

PLUMPTON – Well-bred Mare Makes 110-Mile Trip South
Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville teamed up for a Day 1 Cheltenham Festival double courtesy of Constitution Hill and Marie’s Rock and that powerful trainer/jockey combination make the 220-mile round trip to Plumpton on Monday for the sole runner in the track’s opening Sky Sports Everyone Loves A Local Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, due to go off at 1.55pm.
That horse is FISHCAKE, a half-sister to the exceptional hurdler/chaser Monkfish.
This daughter of Mahler runs in the silks of the FB Racing Club, seen at last week’s Festival aboard Mares’ Hurdle fourth Stormy Ireland.
Fishcake has made the track just once up to now, finishing seventh in a Wincanton bumper last month. Although that performance didn’t scream next time out winner, the experience is likely to have benefitted Fishcake and she is now sent hurdling for a yard 7-20 (35%) with their hurdlers at Plumpton in recent seasons.
