JEREMYS FLAME (12:30 Naas – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase)
Despite failing to win since switching to the larger obstacles, JEREMYS FLAME looks to have been found an ideal opportunity to break her duck over fences for trainer Gavin Cromwell.
The eight-year-old mare failed to complete on three of her first four starts but returned in October jumping slicker to chase home Gordon Elliot’s smart filly Riviere D’etel at Fairyhouse over 2miles. Her penultimate start over Sunday’s course and distance was also a commendable performance as she found the frame behind Henry De Bromhead’s Mr Incredible who has subsequently gone on to contest Grade 2 and Grade 1 events.
Unbeaten chaser and Grade 2 winner Concertista was just too good for Jermeys Flame on her latest assignment at Cork but Willie Mullins’ eight-year-old mare has gone on to frank the form over the festive period once more.
Although Gavin Cromwell’s charge faces decent opposition once more on Sunday, she sets a tall standard for her other four rivals to aim at and will take plenty of beating after her latest second.

BLUE LORD (13:00 Naas – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Chase)
Willie Mullins’ BLUE LORD was a progressive novice hurdler last campaign and finished behind some top-class prospects including Bob Ollinger in last years Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle and behind stablemate and unbeaten Grade 1 winning hurdler Appreciate It.
Blue Lord returned over fences in December and made the perfect start for connections when readily seeing off another stablemate in the shape of El Barra at Fairyhouse. The seven-year-old jumped well throughout and quickly asserted under jockey Paul Townend to win by a comfortable 5.5l.
Blue Lord should have too much class for the other four runners and can maintain his unbeaten start over the larger obstacles before being aimed at bigger targets down the line.

PEMBERLEY (14:20 Plumpton – Sky Sports Racing Sussex National Handicap Chase)
There is always plenty of runners to consider in these types of staying events and the likes of Plumpton specialist I See You Well and Sussex National winner Salty Boy will all have their supporters in Plumpton’s feature Sunday contest but connections of PEMBERLEY will be hoping the nine-year-old can continue to improve now met with a true stamina test after an eye-catching victory last time out over 3miles at Warwick.
That latest winning effort was a first success over fences for Pemberley. Emma Lavelle’s charge was in close to the last flight behind Frisco Bay on that occasion before quickening up well to overhaul Jonjo O’Neils seven-year-old by a comfortable 0.5l at the line.
This will be Pemberley’s fifth start over fences and there should be plenty more to come now attempting marathon trips for the first time. He is clearly progressing with his racing and should find many more winnable opportunities over fences as this season progresses.

FLOWER OF SCOTLAND (14:30 Ayr – Golf Inn Prestwick Handicap Hurdle)
Ayr’s feature hurdle race looks competitive with a host of chances but FLOWER OF SCOTLAND appeals most at the foot of the weights after winning last time out at Kelso in novice company.
Sandy Thomson’s charge has only had seven starts on British soil after joining from David Cottin’s French yard and has posted some creditable efforts behind the likes of Ahoy Senor in a Maiden Hurdle at Ayr before being aimed twice at Listed level over the larger obstacles.
The seven-year-old posted a first career win over hurdles last time out at Kelso when staying on strongly over the extended 2m4f trip to brush aside her rivals by 6l having been well supported in the market and certainly should improve for that return to winning ways.
Flower Of Scotland certainly should relish the step up in trip on Sunday after that last time out success. The grey mare receives plenty of weight from her eight rivals on Sunday and should play a leading role on the first venture into handicap company over hurdles.
