Ffos Las & Wolverhampton Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Monday 16 March

There are three horse racing fixtures taking place on Monday 16 March, with the jumping action coming at Ffos Las and Plumpton, whilst the all-weather flat alternative comes from Wolverhampton this evening.

Andrew Mount heads to Ffos Las and Wolverhampton for his two best bets of the day.

Ffos Las Racing Tips (Monday 16 March 2026)

Six races take place at Ffos Las on Monday with a 2.30pm start. Andrew waits until the 4.30pm contest for his best bet on the card.

4.30 Ffos Las – Double Click (0.5pt e/w – 8/1 bet365, 15/2 generally)

Double Click came good in the spring of 2023, landing a maiden hurdle at Wincanton (1m7f, soft) on his second start after a break before scoring at Ffos Las (2m, soft) on his handicap hurdle debut. His form tailed off after that brace of wins, but he returned to form in the spring of 2024, scoring at Chepstow (2m, soft) on March 21 before a runner-up effort over the same course and distance in April (good so soft). Jamie Snowden’s gelding only had one spring outing last year, finishing sixth at Uttoxeter but struggled to see out the 2m7.5f trip. The eight-year-old’s four subsequent runs have all come over 2m7f+ and, while going close at Exeter in one of them, but that was a steadily run contest with two hurdles omitted and the emphasis was not on stamina. Three miles on heavy ground was too far when a 13-length fourth of seven here in first-time blinkered here last month and Gavin Sheehan takes over from a conditional rider. He’s currently trading at around 8-1 with the firms but is double that on Betfair and it might be worth holding fire until later this morning as he’s likely to drift.

Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Monday 16 March 2026)

It’s a 5.30pm start at Wolverhampton, with seven races taking place. Andrew heads to the 7.30pm race for an eye-catching 1.5pt win.

7.30 Wolverhampton – Water Of Leith (1.5pt win – 9/4 bet365, 2/1 generally)

Jim Goldie’s Water Of Leith is 0-15 in handicap company at Wolverhampton but did win a novice contest here and has run well in defeat on numerous occasions. The booking of red-hot Billy Loughnane could make the difference now that regular conditional rider Lauren Young makes way, and the pace set-up looks ideal for this hold-up performer thanks to the presence of front-runners Beauzon, Twilight Madness and Digital. I also to intend to play him in a forecast with Mumayaz, who is also played late and has now returned to Tony Carroll’s care after a spell with James Owen.
