NAP: Homeless Songs (9/4 Generally)

I think you’re going to see a very different Homeless Songs today at Newmarket than you did last time in Ireland. The combination of better ground and not returning from a break should have her spot on for what doesn’t look like too tougher Group 1.

Her win in the Irish 1000 Guineas was quite special, and showed that she is a filly of real class. She then had a long break before returning in a tough race on less than ideal conditions. Today will be much more suitable and she will be fit and fully tuned up. She has Saffron Beach to beat, who is a really lovely filly. However, she’s very short here and I think Homeless Songs is value against the favourite.

12/1 Double

Rohaan – 3.00 Ascot (3/1 Generally)

I really like the consistent ROHAAN in this. He’s got loads in favour today, having been a duel Workington winner here. He absolutely thrives at Ascot. He will also love the early pace that will be on offer and he will be staying on strongly later in the day.

There’s loads in his favour and I can’t see him not being in the frame.

Soft Whisper – 4.10 Ascot (2/1 Generally)

SOFT WHISPER ran very flat last time, but it was noticed that he bled from the nose and I’m willing to forgive that run.

On his past runs he has an excellent chance in this. His win before Goodwood he beat Bounce The Blues by over a length. That rival franked the form last time winning a Group 3 at Doncaster. Soft Whisper can get back on track here and complete our Ascot double.

Outsider: Washington Heights – 3.21 Redcar (9/1 Generally)

I can certainly see why Cold Case and Barefoot Lady are at the top of the market here. Plenty of obvious reasons for those two, but I think this race has an open look to it and there’s some good form lower in the market.

I’m interested in WASHINGTON HEIGHTS here who is a steady improver for Kevin Ryan. He pushed the talented Shoudvebeenaring all the way in his last run.  He showed a brilliant attitude that day.

That rival then beat Bolt Action, a very solid horse who landed a similar level affair to this on Friday. Shouldvebeenaring was also a respectable 4th in the Mill Reef and now is rated 100.

I think Washington Heights can go a similar way and the mark of 90 is probably a bit low. He can prove that here and the son of Washington DC can give this a real shake.
