It’s Day Two of Royal Ascot and the Tote are guaranteeing a HUGE £500,000 in the Placepot for it.
GG Editor Rob Plumbridge is on hand to guide us through his selections in a bid to scoop some of the big prize money on offer.
Leg 1: 2.30pm
Leg 1 Selections: (3)Beautiful Diamond (14) Got To Love A Grey
Karl Burke is astute with his Royal Ascot Two-Year-Olds and won this race last year. He has two in the mix here and I’ll be happy to include both anticipating a big run from at least one of them to kick start day two.
Beautiful Diamond heads the market here having won readily at Nottingham and is full of potential. His other runner Got To Love A Grey is unbeaten in two starts and won a good Listed event at York. Both shouldn’t mind the quicker ground on offer and should get us through Leg 1.
Leg 2: 3.05pm
Leg 2 Selections: (6) Yerwanthere (9) Tarrabb (13) Don’t Tell Clare
Tarrabb should go well from a handy draw, with her yard in excellent form. She is lightly raced with this being her second season only so there should be lots more to come. Yerwanthere could be thrown in off her mark and goes in as a potential good thing. Don’t Tell Clare also likes it here so is an outsider of interest.
Leg 3: 3.40pm
Leg 3 Selections: (4) Jumbly
Jumbly steps down in Grade having only managed 2nd in a Group 2 last time out in Ireland. That’s top form in this company and she looks on the upgrade and can improve for that run here. She looks rock solid in this and rates our only selection.
Leg 4: 4.20pm
Leg 4 Selections: (4) Luxembourg
Luxembourg is an extremely reliant prospect. Not only is he probably the class act here (despite the presence of Adayar) but he’s as tough as they come and will take a bit of passing here. He can be relied upon as another single leg as we look to load up in trickier contests.
Leg 5: 5.00pm
Leg 5 Selections: (21) Perotto (6) Awaal (27) Wanees
This is one of said tricker contests. We’ll begin with Perotto who has Group form to his name and could be well treated if getting anywhere near that form. Awaal goes well fresh and is low mileage so there could be plenty more to come. Wanees was Sixth in the Britannia here last season and was a prolific scorer prior to this year so goes as a live outsider.
Leg 6: 5.35pm
Leg 6 Selections: (5) Gregory
Gregory looks like a real prospect having won two out of two so far in his career. He’s rated clear in this and will take plenty of beating on all known form. He rates a confident last pick and we will take him on his own here to bring home the Pot!
