The Epsom Derby takes place this Saturday for the 247th time since its inception. One of the most genuinely historic sporting events, the crowds are expected to flock back in 2026 after a poor year of attendance last season.
The GG Weekend Watch podcast has already covered all the events on Saturday at Epsom. The team of Dave Young, Matthew Sutcliffe and Andrew Mount joined forces to unpack every race live on ITV, including the Derby itself.
And there was a shock for viewers looking for tips in the big race. Andrew Mount, who tipped 150/1 shot Hoo Ya Mal to be placed in a recent renewal, selected a 200/1 best bet for the race in the 2026 renewal.

Andrew Mount’s 200/1 Epsom Derby tip
Andrew’s reasoning focused around the form of Alderman against a Derby absentee. Although still a maiden, he pointed out that 200/1 shot Alderman’s trainer Richard Hannon had a 50/1 runner-up in Mojo Star in 2021. However, it was the selection’s effort on his reappearance this season that stands out.
On the Weekend Watch, Andrew said: “He came from the Water To Wine race at Newbury. That was run in a fast time and I can see him possible sneaking a place.” Andrew also stated that he had “no strong opinions” about those towards the head of the betting.
