The second day of the Grand National Festival contains more Grade 1 action. Just like with Day One, Dave Young has analysed every race’s trends to pick out some fitting winners.

Mildmay Novices Chase
- ALL of the last 10 winners raced at Cheltenham last time out
- ALL of the last 10 winners finished first or second last time out
- ALL of the last 10 winners were priced 11/2 or shorter (9 of the those were 4/1 or shorter)
- ALL of the last 10 winners had posted a 160+ RPR over fences (9 of those were 162+)
- ALL of the last 10 winners had 4+ runs that season (7 of those had 5+)
- 9 of the last 10 winners had won 2+ times that season (6 of those won 3+ times)
- 9 of the last 10 winners recorded their season highest RPR in their last two starts (6 last time out)
- 7 of the last 10 winners had run and won at about 3 miles (2 hadn’t tried the trip and GERRI had won at 2m 7f)
- 7 of the last 10 winners had NOT run at Aintree (the three that had finished top 2 in each try)
- 7 of the last 10 winners either won or were beaten favourite at Cheltenham
- 6 of the last 10 winners were 7yo’s

William Hill Handicap Hurdle
- ALL of the last 10 winners had either 2 hurdles wins that season or none at all
- 9 of the last 10 winners had run at about 2m 4f before (8 of those 2+ times)
- 8 of the last 10 winners posted their season peak RPR within their last 2 runs
- 8 of the last 10 winners did NOT win last time out (none in last 7)
- 7 of the last 10 winners had won at about 2m 4f
- 7 of the last 10 winners were aged 5 or 6
- 6 of the last 10 winners were a double-figure price
- 6 of the last 10 winners posted a season peak RPR in the 130’s
- 6 of the last 10 winners did NOT run at Cheltenham

Melling Chase
- ALL of the last 10 winners had at least 3 runs that season
- 9 of the last 10 winners had run at about 2m 4f (8 of those had won)
- 9 of the last 10 winners had achieved an RPR of 166+ that season
- 8 of the last 10 winners were having their first season in open chase company (other 2 were MIN who was neck second first time in the race and FAKIR D’OUDARIES who won the year prior)
- 8 of the last 10 winners recorded their career highest RPR that season (6 on their last start)
- 8 of the last 10 winners were having their first WIN at Aintree (7 of those 8 had previously run there)

- 8 of the last 10 winners had 3+ runs that season and 2+ wins (the other two raced twice with 1 win each)
- 8 of the last 10 winners were 6yo’s (the other two were 7yo’s)
- 7 of the last 10 winners posted their best RPR last time out (the other 3 did it on their penultimate start)
- 6 of the last 10 winners posted an RPR of 149+ (the other 4 were 139 or lower)

Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle
- ALL of the last 10 winners had NOT already won at Aintree (only 3 had run there)
- 9 of the last 10 winners did NOT record their season peak RPR last time out
- 8 of the last 10 winners had last run 35 days ago or less (all of the last 7)
- 8 of the last 10 winners did NOT win last time out
- 8 of the last 10 winners did NOT run at Cheltenham
