John & Thady Gosden have entered both Legacy Link and Symbol Of Majesty in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York’s Dante meeting next week as Clarehaven bid to win a joint-record ninth success in the contest.
Fittingly, out of a sister to Frankel, the regally bred Legacy Link makes her seasonal debut and remains an exciting prospect. Third to the subsequent 1000 Guineas runner up on debut, she made all next time at Haydock to record an easy success. Her season culminated with a fourth in the Fillies Mile, again behind Evolutionist. She’s bred to improve for this trip, and could bolster her Oaks chance.
Thady Gosden told Racing TV that: “She’s not had a run yet this year, but this looks a natural spot to go with her.
“The plan was always to enter in this race and she seems very well in herself. She’s done very well from two to three.
“The Fillies’ Mile form got a bit of a boost in the 1000 Guineas. She’s always been a very likeable filly and very smartly bred. Hopefully we can go to York with her.”
Joining her stablemate is the unbeaten Symbol Of Majesty, who returned this season with a neck success at Haydock. The New Bay filly is bred to be smart, with the yard winning black type prizes with both of her siblings including the 2022 Fillies Mile.
Aidan O’Brien has won the Musidora twice since 2021 and Moments Of Joy is the yard’s sole entrant. The Justify filly is winless since her debut, but was third in the Chesham and stayed on well over a mile on reappearance. She’s bred to improve for this trip, which may well transform her.
Star-studded Minster Stakes attracts 17 contenders
Elsewhere on the card, the Group 2 Minster Stakes fields a number of Group 1 winners. They include 2024 Champions Sprint winner Kind Of Blue. The son of Blue Point was winless last season, but James Fanshawe is adamant he can bounce back.
“It’s gone much smoother than last year. We kept on getting interruptions in 2025 and we could never really get a clear run at him,” said Fanshawe.
“The aim was to go to York last year and it didn’t happen. But touch wood, this year he’s had a nice clear run, is moving well, has been working well. So I’m very happy with him.”
Betfair Sprint Cup winner Big Mojo heads the early betting. King Charles III winner American Affair is set to make his seasonal debut in the race too.
