Amateur jockey Henry Callanhas a six from six record when riding on Lingfield’s Polytrack and he can get a tune out of the William Knight-trained Divot in this 1m2f contest. The four-year-old son of Footstepsinthesand is 0-11 on the all-weather but his sole run on Polytrack at today’s venue saw him finish a close-up third over 1m4f – a trip that stretches him – after failing to settle. He’s won two of his last three starts – both over this trip at Yarmouth – and Callan will likely have him prominent, avoiding the kickback, but off the inside rail.
Ripon Racing Tips (1 September 2026)

4.13 Ripon – Mister Sox (0.5pt e/w – 5/1 general)
High draws dominated in the 6f Class 4 handicap won by Woodstock here on August 15th, with the first four home drawn 10, 17, 14 and 19 of 20. All four raced on the near side, with fifth-placed Mister Sox (stall 1) faring best of the eight runners who raced far side. Tim Easterby’s six-year-old has a terrible record at York – form figures of 880078000 (0-9) – but his record in sprint handicaps elsewhere stands at 14211171548300273255 (5-20) for a profit of £4.00 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£7.98 BSP after comm, expected wins = 2.56, A/E = 1.95). I’d have preferred a higher draw than stall 2 of 10 but I still want a small each-way interest.
