- Ratings spread: Ike Sport tops the weights on 12st off a mark of 133, 6lb clear of Stream Of Stars and Tonaghneave Well (both 127). Let Him B is bottom on 113.
- Hot stable and rider: Walk On High runs for Harry Fry (2 from 6, 33%, in the last 14 days) with Bryan Carver (3 from 14, 21%). The racecard notes he won this race last year when back from a break. He has been off 219 days.
- Long absences: Range (261 days), Walk On High (219), Maldini Milano (210) and Nardaran (182) all return from long breaks. Nardaran is ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, 6 from 29 (21%) in the last 14 days.

Betting Forecast
14/1 Ike Sport, 14/1 Stream Of Stars, 50/1 Tonaghneave Well, 11/4 Kocktail Bleu, 7/1 Nardaran, 10/1 Range, 10/1 Goodwin, 9/2 Maldini Milano, 12/1 Walk On High, 20/1 Bandjo, 33/1 Scorsese, 14/1 Sixty Plus, 4/1 Let Him B
Verdict
Irish raider Let Him B bolted up at Cork last month and has to be respected despite his revised mark. However, this could go to the unexposed 6yo MALDINI MILANO (nap), whose C&D win in April reads very nicely. Stablemate Nardaran could bounce back to his best following a break and is feared most ahead of the 4yo Bandjo, who has hinted a few times that he may relish today’s step up in trip. Kocktail Bleu could also be in the mix.[Ben Hutton]

Midnight Jukebox6.30pm Wolverhampton – Midnite: Built For 2026 Not 2006 Novice Stakes
A ten-runner Class 3 novice over 1m1f 104y on Standard going. Only one runner has an official rating, so recent form and the jockey bookings carry more weight than usual.
- Only rated runner: Watch The King (Ian Williams) is rated 82 after four runs over 1m in France. He has since been gelded.
- Hot jockeys: Billy Loughnane rides Raider and is 14 from 58 (24%) in the last 14 days. Oisin Murphy rides Wosta and is 10 from 48 (21%).
- Best recent run: Wosta (John & Thady Gosden) finished second over 1m at Kempton three weeks ago.
- Newcomers: Ruthless Ambition (David Simcock) and Abbey Bartlet (T J Kent) make their debuts. Ruthless Ambition’s dam is a Grade 3 winner.
- Kit and turnaround: Journalism wears first-time blinkers and a tongue strap. Katana runs again just seven days after his last start.

Betting Forecast
100/1 Katana, 33/1 Journalism, 6/1 Medaali, 16/1 Ruthless Ambition, 7/1 Steamroller, 12/1 Watch The King, 100/1 Opal Rose, 33/1 Abbey Bartlet, 7/1 Raider, 4/7 Wosta
Verdict
Watch The King showed useful ability in France and needs a market check on his first run for Ian Williams, but there are some once-raced contenders with the potential to leave their debut runs well behind. Wosta (second choice) is the obvious one given the conspicuous promise of her finishing effort at Kempton, but STEAMROLLER was sixth in a very strong Newbury maiden in the spring and that in spite of looking in need of the experience. He should have plenty more to offer. Medaali and Raider can do better too.[Paul Smith]
6.45pm Chelmsford – AWC Season 14 Has Begun EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes
A fillies’ restricted novice over 7f on Standard going. Sacred Rhythm has been taken out, leaving 13 runners. Only one of them won last time out.

- Next best rated: Lady’s Grace (John & Thady Gosden) is rated 71 and was beaten favourite last time. She has made the frame in two all-weather starts.
- Form link: Literary was last of 11 in the Leicester race won by Wedyan. Her trainer Charlie Clover is 2 from 6 (33%) in the last 14 days.
- Newcomers: Bold Betty (first-time hood), Mo Rocko and Young Clarissa make their debuts. Young Clarissa’s dam is a sister to a 6f Group 1 winner.

Key angles
- In-form pairing: Walk On High is the only featured runner with both a hot trainer (Harry Fry) and a hot jockey (Bryan Carver), but he returns from 219 days off.
- Skelton numbers: Dan Skelton has three of the 14 runners in the Southwell maiden hurdle, two of them on their rules debut.
- Leicester form line: At Chelmsford, Wedyan beat Literary at Leicester last time. Wedyan is the only last-time-out winner in the race.
- C&D winners: None of the runners in the four featured races appears on today’s course and distance winners list. Jubilant (Plumpton 3.00pm) and Chloe’s Courage (Chelmsford 7.45pm) are among the C&D winners running elsewhere on the cards.
