Wednesday’s racing headlines include the abandonment of Cork’s meeting after four races, as well as a confirmed new rider for Thundering On in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
There is also an updated plan for Giavellotto across the remainder of 2026, while there is a six-meeting programme across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday afternoon.
Cork meeting abandoned after four races
Cork’s eight-race Flat card was abandoned after the fourth race on Tuesday because of high winds. The Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Navigation Stakes, set to be the feature contest of the day in Britain and Ireland, was among the four races that did not take place.
The meeting was delayed for 30 minutes after the conditions worsened and parts of the track railing were blown down. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board said the remaining races were abandoned “in the safety of everyone involved”, following representations from senior riders, the clerk of the course and the racecourse manager. Boudot booked for Thundering On in the Arc
Pierre-Charles Boudot will ride Thundering On for Joseph O’Brien in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp. The booking follows Dylan Browne McMonagle’s failure to return from injury in time for the race.
Hervé Naggar, Boudot’s agent, told Jour de Galop’s Talk de JDG podcast: “On Sunday Pierre-Charles will ride Joseph O’Brien’s filly, Thundering On.” Boudot won the Arc on Waldgeist in 2019. Read the Racing Post’s report.
Arc draw to follow declarations
The starting positions for Sunday’s Arc will be revealed at the official opening ceremony in Paris on Thursday evening. France Galop says the draw will be conducted electronically in the morning under the supervision of judicial officers, with the result kept confidential until the ceremony.

Giavellotto to target Hong Kong Vase
Marco Botti has ruled out a Breeders’ Cup campaign for Giavellotto, with the Hong Kong Vase now the priority for the former winner. The seven-year-old won the race in 2024 and was second the following year.
Giavellotto was last seen finishing fourth in the Grosser Preis von Baden this month. Botti said: “We will stick with our plan to go back to Hong Kong.” Read the Thoroughbred Daily News report.
