Palmer, who trains out of Michael Owen’s Manor House Stables, has described the situation as “a very sad state of affairs.” The trainer has also said that: “I can’t remember a time when we haven’t been chasing Deva to pay their bills,” while member Sam Higgins has revealed: “I’m owed close to £40,000 and there are many more members like that.” (Racing Post)
Aidan O’Brien suggests Victorious could be out for the season
Star juvenile Victorious may struggle to meet a racecourse again in 2026. The Ballydoyle filly starred at Royal Ascot when winning a strong edition of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. She has now won all three career starts and holds an entry in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes in September. O’Brien said she “was a little bit off” in her work recently and that “t if there’s anything (wrong) we’ll wait with her because she’s travelled and she has a lot of experience.” (The Sun)
Plans revealed for globetrotters Giavellotto and Bacio
Marco Botti’s stable star Giavellotto is on course to run in Germany next time out. The seven-year-old, who has raced in five different countries across his last five races, will make it six in six at Baden Baden next month. His trainer may then make it seven separate countries, with the Breeders’ Cup in his eyeline. Giavellotto’s form this term received an enormous boost recently; he won the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes from Kalpana, who subsequently took the King George at Ascot over the same course and distance. Meanwhile, American handler Wesley Ward is priming Bacio for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York. Ward suffered heartbreak in the race in 2017 when Lady Aurelia was beaten on the line by Marsha. Frankie Dettori, who rode that day, celebrated in the saddle despite being pipped. Bacio looks a likely type to challenge as well after storming to a wide-margin success in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes at the royal meeting.
