Dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs is one of 15 horses remaining at the latest entry stage for the 2025 Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup, which will take place on Friday 14th March, 2025 at 4pm. The Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old first tasted success in the race back in 2023 when he downed Bravemansgame by seven lengths and he duly retained his crown with a sumptuous three-and-a-half length victory over Gerri Colombe.

Now, the Closutton inmate will attempt to emulate the likes of Arkle and Best Mate by wining three Cheltenham Gold Cups on the bounce and he showed when downing stablemate Fact To File in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas that he’s still the one to beat and he’s a clear ante-post favourite for the contest. He followed that up with another spectacular display at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival as he stormed to an emphatic victory over the aforementioned Fact To File and Grangeclare West, who finished second.
Fact To File was a fine winner of the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last season and he got the better of Galopin Des Champs in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown at the start of this season, but failed to land a blow on him in the abovementioned Savills Chase and Irish Gold Cup. The new kid on the block, Fact To File is another Mullins-trained raider that stands out from a glittering list of potential runners in the 2025 renewal.

The Irish have dominated the race in recent times and looking for a seventh win on the spin in this year’s contest and King George VI Chase hero Banbridge is amongst the entries for Joseph O’Brien, but he also features in the Ryanair Chase entries as well.
A winner of the Turners Novices’ Chase last season, where he got the better of Ginny’s Destiny, Grey Dawning has struggled to get his head in front this season and having been beaten by Royale Pagaille in the Betfair Chase at Haydock Park, Dan Skelton’s charge was then pulled up in the King George over Christmas.

Corbetts Cross is another from the Emerald Isle that features in the entries and he won the National Hunt Chase last season, while the likes of Ahoy Senor and former King George VI Chase hero Hewick also remain in the list.
