GIOVANNI CHANGE tends to jump out to his left and is far happier when racing on right-handed tracks. His record when racing in this direction for current trainer Mark Walford reads 3113 (2-4), compared to 333P893654 (0-10) on left-handed tracks.
He impressed when finishing third at Aintree in May, going down by just half a length despite losing valuable ground at every hurdle. Musselburgh will suit and his yard is in better form than when he finished third at Market Rasen in July, his most recent right-handed outing.

WILD MAX has failed to settle on occasions but has rarely had the big field that suits. He also needs to race right-handed, his record this way round being 1141 (3-4), with the defeat excusable as he pulled too hard in a six-runner line-up.

TOP VILLE BEN has form figures of 11F135313 (4-9) when racing left-handed over fences, improving to 1151 (3-4) at Wetherby only. The defeat can be excused – he raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail when well held in the 2019 Charlie Hall Chase – and he can set the record straight in the same contest on Saturday.
He’s back from another break after only running once last season – over hurdles at Auteuil in April – and is worth chancing at a big price.

Bizarrely, he has been campaigned exclusively left-handed since that win, taking his left-handed figures to 542U60 (0-6) when well held at Aintree in the spring.

SOJOURN – (3.20 Ascot, 1.5pt win, 10/1)
I also want to back SOJOURN, who is arguably the better bet at the available prices. His four seasonal debuts have all taken place at about this time of year, with form figures of 4111 (3-4).
The sole defeat came when 33-1 for a 16-runner Newbury bumper. Two of the wins came on right-handed tracks, he’s had wind surgery since disappointing at Haydock in February and any rain will improve his chances.
